physical or emotional protection
Hunger games
Mary Poppins
Alien (if you count the cat)
28 Days Later
Run Lola Run (sorta)
Alien (if you count the cat)
I count Ripley following protocol and refusing to open the airlock for a contaminated crewmate. If Ash hadn’t stepped in, the movie would have ended very differently.
I don’t remember much of that movie, but an Aliens / Evil Dead crossover sounds like a lot of fun.
I think that would work best as a comic. The two movies are too different in tone to put on screen.
That’s fair, I feel like I could support the project either way.
Also she defended Burke when the Marines were going to kill him for what he did. I mean she wanted him punished but… Letter of the law here. He was weak, she defended him.
That’s in the sequel tho innit?
Yeah, but that’s ok isn’t it?
Yeah I just thought you lot were talking about Alien 🤷♂️
I meant that Jonesy is the weak male that Ripley physically and emotionally protects.
Jonesy is a good cat
Any of the Sailormoon movies possibly?
Tuxedo Mask usually gets more into trouble than the heroine herself.Although I wouldn’t actually count him as weak, just weaker.
And it’s an old anime series, like starting in the 1990s, with later reboots. The Long Kiss Goodnight
The first Underworld from 2003 is like this, but it’s painfully early 2000s. It’s from that era when every action movie was ripping of The Matrix as hard as possible.
Pain? No that feeling is wonder.
It is wonderfully early 2000s.
Kate Beckinsale younger and in leather. Nice.
In the universe I’m originally from she’s clad in shiny vinyl (yes, please) and her name was Beckinsdale.
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets
You heard of Google?
Google doesn’t fucking work anymore. We’re back to directly asking people being both the fastest and most reliable way to get information.
There was a tiny window when you could actually get good search results with a natural language question, but that’s long gone and the “AI” features have only made it worse.
Google doesn’t fucking work anymore.
True, but that is by choice. kagi.com has an agreement to use Google’s API directly and they have much better search results than Google itself.
Startpage is still decent
Wanted (2008 film) - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wanted_(2008_film)
Angelina Jolie carries the protagonist until he can learn to fight on two feet
Long kiss goodnight
- Star wars force awakens.
- Tangled
- Mulan
- Transformers
- Avatar (Blue people)
Could probably come up with more.
Lego Movie
Aliens. After Gorman’s breakdown, all the marines start taking orders from Ripley.
Chitty chitty gangbang
Gangbang? 😲
reminds me of Bedknobs and Broomsticks and yes I read your title correctly ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
First matrix. Trinity is much more skilled than Neo until the final act.
Then the same but in reverse in Matrix 4 but no one should watch that shitshow
Similarly - Edge of Tomorrow Emily Blunt is skilled and trains Tom Cruise until he’s competent enough to save the world. By the end they’re both extremely competent. Only reason Tom Cruise saves the world and not her is due to the timeloops. She’d already done it once.
I wish they had followed the original story. The ending is very different.
Do you mind spoiling us please?
They both still loop in the story. Before killing the big bad they fight to the death because the loop will keep repeating unless there is only one mimic (the reset aliens and both of them) at the end of the day.
He kills her and the other mimics then the big boss. Ending the loop at the cost of her life.
I am extremely happy they didn’t end the movie that way, what an unnecessarily depressing ending
Depressing endings are so rare in movies that I, personally, often enjoy them for the novelty if nothing else.
3000 Years of Longing maybe? Tilda is very caring and acknowledging of her Djinn’s needs.
