Microsoft has reportedly shared the names of Dutch civil servants working for two regulatory agencies with the U.S. House of Representatives. The agencies involved include the Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) and the Dutch Data Protection Authority (AP), according to an article published on Friday by Vrij Nederland.

Change is happening though, even people who still trust Meta, Microsoft and Google heard of fighter jets with kill switches. Awareness is growing. Imo it’s not going fast enough but it wouldn’t surprise me if somewhere the next few years there will be a mass exodus of Europeans moving away from US services. 3 years ago that was unthinkable. Trust is really broken, in all levels of society.

I wasn’t saying that mass exodus will include everyone. I once learned that legal companies still fax stuff to the courthouse because they don’t trust email. Old habits die hard. But once the network effect breaks, they’ll be the odd one out. Especially places that hold sensitive information like gov agencies, banks, hospitals, schools will be under scrutiny if they continue to keep data there when the majority has already switched over. Despite the diehards and despite the majority still being on US systems, the damage quite likely cannot be undone anymore and if that’s true we’re already beyond the point of no return.
It’s essentially one elite. Building Airbus for independence but not caring about IT doesn’t make sense unless there is nothing to fear.

There are always useful idiots but they don’t set essential policies for the elite. Whoever holds the EU together doesn’t worry about the US IT dependency even though they should.
