Microsoft has reportedly shared the names of Dutch civil servants working for two regulatory agencies with the U.S. House of Representatives. I wasn’t saying that mass exodus will include everyone. I once learned that legal companies still fax stuff to the courthouse because they don’t trust email. Old habits die hard. But once the network effect breaks, they’ll be the odd one out. Especially places that hold sensitive information like gov agencies, banks, hospitals, schools will be under scrutiny if they continue to keep data there when the majority has already switched over. Despite the diehards and despite the majority still being on US systems, the damage quite likely cannot be undone anymore and if that’s true we’re already beyond the point of no return.
