Before him Obama was president so I’m not sure what degradation of democracy you’re talking about. If you’re referring to the general failures of your two party system and corruption of all institutions it started way before that but you don’t really see anything like that in EU yet. Voting for Trump and voting for far-right parties in EU isn’t the same thing.
