“For an additional fee”

I don’t think they’re allowed to take past money like that, though. They can increase monthly fees, sure.
but of course as we all know, laws don’t matter in this instance.

That is absolutely fucking hilarious.
I also don’t think contracts work that way, otherwise that shit would be WAY more common. heh. But I’m also pretty sure nobody will see a penny back anyway.
I’d feel bad for them if they weren’t fucking in the middle of turning our nation into a fascist hellhole.

Back in 1995, I did “0300” work for AT&T - customer service for residential long distance customers. We used Xerox machines of some sort. I don’t remember all that many details, but it was probably a successor to the Star systems. There was a GUI and windows, although almost everything we did used terminal-type windows, connecting to various systems to look up information and make necessary changes. I do remember there was a GUI-type app for the ANI - automatic number identification - that basically gave us caller ID (number, no names) when we got a call. It didn’t always give us the number, but usually did.
I was so young and hadn’t learned yet (with my then-undiagnosed ADHD) that phone jobs were NOT a good fit for me… I’d log in each day to customize the colours and sizes of things, which it wouldn’t save once I’d logged out. But I couldn’t stand the defaults, and also it slowed me down getting on the phones (although it counted against me and was part of the reason I lost that job - time spent outside of the queue. heh)

I mod my city’s subreddit and Colonial Williamsburg. And that’s it.

The National Mall is not “near” the White House.

Ah, man, I would give so much to register autoexec.bat lol

You’ve inspired me. I’d pick , and watch the world fucking BURN. :)

i think we’re pretty much past that era, honestly.

Taco Bell wouldn’t know what to do. :)

Yeah, .ent would not be primarily registered by enterprises…
.one exists
I’d love to have a vanity gTLD, but it’d have to cost a shitload less.

This one is the joke I was looking for :)

It was too fucking close, too. I’m glad it passed.
I’m also happy that almost all of Hampton Roads was very much on the YES side. Poquoson went very NO and York went somewhat NO, but even James City County and even Charles City County went YES, although James City County was the smallest margin in the entire state.
Newport News where I live was solidly YES. I’m a mod in the subreddit - the last thing I’m doing with reddit - and we got brigaded to hell from people outside the community in three threads about the vote. It was crazy.

You make a good point, however a counterpoint: Instance information is not hidden. It would be relatively trivial for a bad actor with resources to DDOS one instance to add other instances.

I humbly disagree. No business wanted tariffs[1]. They knew it would wreak havoc with higher prices, driving down profits. That they are getting this windfall was certainly not guaranteed at the outset.
Furthermore, Trump did this pretty unilaterally. Not after pressure from businesses.
So no, I don’t think this was a plan all along.
Oh, I’m sure you can find an exception or two ↩︎

I agree, but the thing is… it’s impossible to know exactly how much extra anyone paid (consumers), because most businesses probably ate some of the cost but of course had to pass most of it along. But it’s fuzzy, whereas what the businesses paid - there’s a record of that.
Nevermind that they passed it along…
It’s stupid and unfair and was illegal, but of course we can’t prosecute the President for anything…

Interesting.
You require a cute name for food before you will eat it? Because calling it “mechanically separated chicken” doesn’t work for you, but “chicken nuggets” does.
Well, if having to lie to yourself to make food delicious works for you, more power to you.
I, on the other hand, am firmly aware of what I’m eating. I don’t need anyone to lie to me about it.

shudder
Chicken nuggets are processed meat. Spam is. Lunch meat is. Most ham is.
It’s gonna be marginal quality because of how military contracts go, but processed meat is not the problem.
I read that people saw all four walking around, although I’m sure they were taken to be checked out. But seems like really good news so far.
