Beddoes asked how he can believe in these “two very different views of the world.” Musk simply responded, “I don’t think they’re inconsistent,” without elaborating further.

Beddoes is absolutely right. If money isn’t going to be a thing in 10 years, then why not just spend like crazy right now? It doesn’t matter if poor people move to rich countries because it will all be moot in 10 years. You can just use deficit spending if that’s really the case.

Or you know what? Musk could use all of his vast wealth to improve as many lives as he can for the next 10 years. He’d be up there with Andrew Carnegie among the highest echelon of rich assholes who will be remembered for a long time by doing nothing except giving their money away. If he only has to do this until this singularity where money becomes meaningless, there’s no point to him saving money all the way until that moment.
