Anything fun or interesting going on? Relaxing, doing chores, listening to music, playing games, reading? I wanna hear about it!
I washed my dishes! Life has been grim lately. They had stacked up. Kitchen is clean now. And maybe I feel a bit better.

LOL. Thanks! :]
It wasn’t that tall. Only about a month. But it was a lot.
It’s been a month since my bro and his gal came over for BBQ. I think that’s what the mold was eating.
Making music. I’ve started working on a new EP, probably around 5 songs, that I plan to release within 3 months.
Oh that’s rad as hell! I just started learning music production somewhat recently, it’s so hard but so much fun. I hope your EP comes together smoothly, I’m sure it’ll turn out badass. What genre?
Thanks! Yeah, even I am still continuously learning new things. In fact, I recently reset my mixing/mastering workflow and started fresh, because of new stuff I learned. I do different genres, but this time it’s gonna be a prog industrial metal instrumental album.
I’d love to hear it when it’s ready!
Made the mistake of trying Deadlock. It’s invite only right now but there are communities that will let you friend someone for an invite. Anyway I figured it was good since it’s Valve. And uh unfortunately I was right. I haven’t slept properly in a week
Well, it’s bed time here, but in the morning I’m going on a road trip to get another preventative rabies shot. I didn’t build up enough antibodies from the 3 shots last fall to work with raccoons and foxes and such, so I’m giving it another try.
It’s a 5-6 hour round trip, but another wildlife center is running a discount program, so it saves me $500 or so, even with gas taken into account.
That’s a fantastic discount, my goodness. I hope this time is the one that lets you work with them!
It is! The shots are normally around 600 to 800 each, and you need 3, typically.
The clinic out there does a spring and fall event so new volunteers and anyone needing a booster can come all on the same days. One vial of vaccine holds enough to do 10 people, so instead of giving one shot and tossing the rest as would happen if we all got shots randomly, they schedule us to all come on the same days, and pass the savings on to us, as most of us aren’t paid to do this work.
I tested positive for antibodies, but not high enough to safely work with rabies vector animals, so I’m due for a booster. I believe we need to get a titer every 2 years to show we still have proper antibody levels to keep working with them.
So it’s a bit of a hassle, but we have so many cute critters that I can’t work with without doing it!

Meatball the groundhog

A tiny baby fox they brought back to life after it passed. It’s big now, and still just as adorable!
They’re too adorable! That’s so cool.
I’m no hypocrite, I’ll chime in. I woke up at 1 am this morning and couldn’t get back to sleep because my body hates me apparently. The day was pretty good other than that though, I made a run to the dump that I’d been meaning to do for months, got my hair dyed, and had lunch at a local cafe (sandwich with a yuba patty, sesame slaw, and peanut sauce. It was so good). Now I’m just chilling, I got cider and I’m listening to records (Yesterwynde by Nightwish right now). I’m gonna sleep well tonight I think!

I do have some Nightwish, but hadn’t been aware that this was out.
Norway’s constitutional day today, so started the off at 8 with canon shots from the castle where the royal families resided in the 11-1200’s followed by a speech from the mayor, then a parade through the city for the annual retelling of some of the towns heroes and legends from throughout history, and then hotdogs and ice cream and coffee in the sun before going home for breakfast and cake, and then the children’s parade through the streets from home just before 13. Now it’s gaming time while I listen to the party of the celebrating russ next door in the background.
Same. Gratulerer med dagen.
Gratulerer med dagen 🇧🇻
I’ve been recovering from bottom surgery, still on my first week of being home from the hospital. Moving around has been hard, so I spent today watching TV (Dropout’s GameChanger and Invincible S4), speaking to friends online or who visit, and doing some hand sewing. Well, plus my surgery maintenance.
Congratulations! I recommend Baldur’s Gate Three and Potionomics for good recovery games.
Congrats on the surgery! Recovering is rough, but it’s so much better after you’re healed. Definitely take it easy, and don’t forget to drink water. 😄
Rolled down 80km of Italian alps today on the Alpe-Adria cycling route. Probably the nicest part of the route. Between Villach and Carnia including some 50+ km of the most beautiful rail to trail I’ve been on. With good weather as well. Honestly amazing day.

Severe thunderstorm rolled through town earlier, took the opportunity to drive around while everyone was pulled off to the sides of the road.
Couldn’t see 5 feet in front of me and was constantly pelted by hail. Was pretty fun.
Putter around in the garden while the pups and the hens frolic in the yard, then off to work this afternoon. Work is a doggie daycare/boarding/training facility and it’s a rather slow weekend, so basically it’ll be some cleaning but mostly 8hrs of chilling with a pack of dogs what’s going to be a lovely spring afternoon. I have no complaints.
I’m going to start a new homebrew experiment making watermelon cucumber hard seltzer with lemon zest and a splash of apple juice. It probably needs sweetener after the sugars have become alcohol to bring back the watermelon flavour and maybe some mineral salt to give it seltzer character.
That sounds delicious 😮
I hope it turns out well!
I’ll probably wash my truck and then go buy some baseboard for work tomorrow. Might go to my camp spot to sit and cook by a fire in the evening.
Update: Truck washed (washed my bike too), baseboards bought, replaced the bedding for my gerbil and now eating some yoghurt before heading out into the woods to muddy my clean bike.
Hot sweaty, course 2 of 3 about entering a structure. A good day all in all.

I went to six flags with my significant other today, we had a blast! I don’t think I’d been on a roller coaster in nearly a decade so it was really fun to be back in a theme park (despite the food prices, which were ludicrous).
It’s not too many pancakes, but a bit similar I am making too many Rotis today. There are many types of (stuffed) flatbread, today dahlpuri roti. I am making a bunch for the freezer as well.
Takes quite a bit of work, making the stuffing and all, so I already made the Doks Masala (Surinam style duck curry) and Madame Jeanette pepper sauce late last night to go with the Roti.
Also traditional to go with roti and doks masala is boiled eggs, patato masala and long beans. Scoop that stuff up with the roti, no fork or spoon needed, bare hands. I am looking forward serving this tonight.
I went looking for recipes, but ended up with a history lesson as well about Indian people in the Caribbean. Very interesting, and the food sounds delicious!
I make roti frequently, but whenever I try to stuff them, I get too overzealous and they all poke out and make a mess. 😄
Heh, I posted about that history a while back. In the Netherlands we have a large community of Indonesian, Dutch West Indies and Surinam people, all with wonderful culture, music and food.
I used to overstuff my rotis and have the same result as you, but after much practice got the hang of it. I also make flabreads that are much easier to make, like parathas and chapatis. Also delicious.
Cheers!
I love all the quick breads, since I can make them up quickly whenever something calls for some. It’s also fun to mix in random ingredients to suit my mood. Breads are some of my favorite foods in general.
I can’t understand why people still get so hung up on immigration. We have the rich and modern cultures we have because we haven’t stayed in one place and kept to ourselves. We move about and share the best of our ideas with each other and find ways to make even greater things. Food, music, stories, science, and so much more. Never have I learned something about another group of people and felt I was worse off than before. Even if it isn’t something I would enjoy for me, it shows me something I had never considered before.
Hear hear.
We Dutch can enjoy these cultures now because of the ruthless exploitation of Indonesia and (North) African country’s for centuries and there are Dutch people still having a hard time showing immigrants any respect or hospitality, and where I live in growing numbers. It is disheartening but I am glad not to be like them.
Most of my cooking skills comes from learning from friends and family with Indo, Surinam and North African backgrounds. My sisters are all married to people from non Dutch cultures, so I am lucky there too. Also we live near the largest importer/distributor of Asian, Indonesian and Surinam foods in Europe. Very lucky.
My mother is a racist though, we don’t see her.
I’m in the US, so we learn (some) about African people that were brought here and to the Caribbean. It is terrible what happened, but they came up with many great things to help them get through. They brought with them foods, music, and traditions that now feel engrained in the greater society here, regardless of one’s origins.
We still have a very long way to go on fixing people’s biases, but many people have much more foreign influence in their daily lives than they might be aware of.
With pending uncertainty of the effects of climate change, who knows who the next group of immigrants will be, and those people should hope that they have shown good treatment to those seeking help in the past.
