How is that „using fate instead of using their head“? Germany already has funds in place specifically for open source projects so that’s not so far off the charts (even though the amount would be lower) so what’s your point ?
Edit: And to be more specific the point of somehow being profitable is also not coming through to me on this, since when is open source software profitable except when used by for profit companies ? I can understand the hype, I also know it will be pain for people involved and M$ will do everything to reverse the change possibly leading to even more headaches for said admins etc. as has happened in the past but you can’t finish what you don’t start so I think it’s still good news.

I was trying to get my leg nursed back to health which got fucked up big time right before I turned 18. Still haven’t recovered completely almost 10 years later due to nerve damage but all in all I was lucky not to lose a leg.
Spent a few months in a wheelchair, after that I smoked at lot of weed, met lots of people and just had fun. I watched kids shows I wasn’t allowed to watch as a kid, watched all James Bond movies, went out to drink and dated casually. I also started a Spotify playlist which I kept updating for 5 years, has about 2.5k songs now if I remember correctly. Played a lot of league of legends otherwise can’t really remember the games.
But let me tell you, The months between finishing school and beginning to study were some of the best in my life. Pure freedom
