i’m gonna bite the bullet tonight and go binhost on my machine.

i’m gonna bite the bullet tonight and go binhost on my machine.
Between that and never having the money to upgrade my computer I finally had to give up Gentoo after nearly 20 years of use. I keep wanting to go back but its just too painful and I just can’t bite the bullet to do a binary install.
To be fair, your SO is so old they don’t know what a meme is. Maybe in a few more years they will catch up to the rest of us
What’s even more disturbing is when you think of how much savings would be needed to weather the storm. If your car is totalled and you had to find something, one of the adult loses their job and you have to cover a month or three of life. We are talking tens of thousands of dollars.
But maybe even worse is how quickly that can be replaced. If shit hits the fan and you survived, how long are you vulnerable? Two years? A decade of saving?
When you look at the top 10% of society there just aren’t that many problems that could cause them to be homeless in 24hrs.
I always liked the definition of financially stable to be at a state where you can weather two major life events at the same time and not be devastating. Replace a vehicle and pay your max out of pocket for health insurance at the same time.
What we find is that so many of us are one bad day away from doom.
my mind went a completely different way.
omg do i hate that. especial those commentators who want to claim something was politically devastating when we all know no one gave a shit.
Karma police arrest this man
So there is that story in Genesis where the sons of Jacob have an army of 318 men circumcised so they could follow their religion.
Just think they probably put then into a pile, a small little mountain of foreskins.
most dictators are unalived before that happens.
i switched when phones dropped the jack but just recently went USB to 3.5mm. Sadly both are crap.
Honestly I’m going to look into a media device again.
The word you’re looking for is “context.”
But then I’d ask how do you outlaw human systematic consumption of information. The camera on my car cant watch 24/7, then why should YOU be allowed to watch 24/7? What you’re outlawing is the literal methodology.
This has always been an issue with my thoughts on AI. If the computer became sentient does the LLM learning rule go out the window? or is it because they are made of metal?
I feel like they need a test case to figure out how to define derivative work when the creator is not human.
If i make a painting and you see it and then make one in a similar style it would be considered derivative and not a violation. In your head is a distillation of my image. It doesn’t contain the image and your output would be lossy. Similarly the LLM contains statistics and not verbatim content. So the question is “how is human synthesis different than AI synthesis.”
Until that is resolved a class action would probably fall apart. Individual damages would need to be determined and even a single example of “you put your stuff out to the public and aren’t going aftet Joe who made derivative work…” would derail the case.
The idea would be that the Gov renegotiates the loan, pays off some portion of the interest to make sure that all of us have money in savings expecting return to get it, and then the home owners would get a more reasonable rate. The government would also have to tell all the bank shareholders to take a long walk off a short pier. Oh and jail the C-level
The problem though was that many of the people taking on those horrible rates were people or properties that were bad investments. And the government never really cares enough to punish white collar crimes even they are industry wide like this. Look at Wells Fargo. They full on committed fraud, signing people up for accounts without their knowledge and no one went to jail. If you or I did that for one individual its a felony. But if you’re the bank itself its no big deal. WF should have been broken up and sold off and a bunch of people should be living in a cell.
For a long time I was doing a bullet journal for management and another notebook for notes, written in shorthand. was great for when i worked in an office, didn’t have to lug around my computer. The downside was that deep searching for things was impossible. You tell me the day and I could find it but 3 months about at some point we talked about X…
Now that I’ve been work from home for 6 years I’ve switched to todo.txt and Obsidian (vimwiki set to output the same location). Syncthing to keep computer and phone working.
i also do 43 Folders for intake of mail and tasks with some sort of physical medium.
As for workflow I have a daily note template that has:
My routine has steps for filling out the rest of the notes and lists, checking emails, 43 folders, etc. This way all i really have to do is follow the steps.
is that the part you sit on when you’re up on your peddle stool?
Its not a misread, your interpretation skips the important parts. The problem with your interpretation is right here:
be blessed without the burden of knowledge
The actual sin was both the man and woman breaking their covenant with God,
The knowledge is “of good and evil.” Until eating they couldn’t know that breaking a covenant was wrong no matter what their god has told them. They did not know that they should listen to what their god said, the concept of “should/shouldn’t” was devoid of meaning to them. While they had free will, literally all actions were purposeless and the two would just bounce around the garden not knowing if they should actually listen to their god or not. This becomes more evident when you read further as well as look at the stories from neighboring cultures this was borrowed from.
Later in the chapter their god speaks to the other deities in the pantheon about how the humans must be cast out of the garden as having their new abilities, may find the tree of everlasting life and become as powerful as the rest of the gods and supernatural beings. The idea is that having knowledge of the ramifications of one’s actions and living forever would mean that humans would no longer be controlled by the gods. That having free will, knowing what is good and what is evil and being immune to the wrath of the gods would render them all powerful.
This narrative then follows that their god casts them out into the world riddled with pain and suffering and humans eventually lose their knowledge of the past and how their god has their thumb on them. This is why Satan, “The Accusor”, is called the bringer of light. As sin is defined as a transgression against god, Satan is there to show how the fall of man was truly an enslavement by their god. Rather than leave humans dumb bouncing around the garden or immune to suffering, their god keeps humans ensnared in this system of life, suffering and everlasting torment. the story of the garden is what makes their god relevant when they otherwise shouldn’t be.
That is a control issue. They target groups they wish to control (e.g. Conservative Christians) and they tackle one of their major issues/needs to get the group into their pocket. CC want to oppression women, destroy minorities and LGBTQ. So the billionaires fund all this hateful shit to get CC to vote and support who the billionaires want in power. That is why the Orange one is president, he is an easily controlled idiot who handed over the keys to Mr Swastikar.
I dated a free radical once. Nothing but broken bonds left in her wake.
