How do I bake the best chocolate chip cookies?

I was heavily bullied at school, so I understand. Have fun undoing the damage others caused you :D it’s an adventure.

Yep and I have less time for all these things when I spend the time setting up monitoring.
Fixing takes the same time either way. But I barely ever have to touch my setup anyway, because usually ot doesn’t just break randomly.

What do you need quick? I have a Minecraft server, a wiki for random stuff, a shopping list, a calendar sync, photo hosting, a media server and probably some other shit on there.
I can think of many situations where I’d want those quickly, but need I don’t anything.

Of course the mental health team is bleeding talent, it’s probably (initially) consisted of people that actually care about mental health, and they gradually figured out that no matter what they do or try, the technology they work for can only ever be a net negative on mental health. I would also wash my hands off it as fast as possible and go back to actually contributing to positive mental health.

Don’t do shit like “lemmy etiquette”. Just follow human etiquette and be a pleasant human and everything will be fine.
Also stop worrying so much about “doing anything bad”. Sometimes you fuck up, sometimes you upset people, it’s no big deal. You’re good.

Assuming the uptime of your services are in any way important.
I’m not running a business here, I’ve got no big stakeholders. If something doesn’t work, at most me or someone close to me is affected. No one really cares if something is not available for a day.
I spent 0 minutes on monitoring and don’t intend to start now :D

There’s a difference between not tolerating and dehumanizing. You don’t need to dehumanize someone that you don’t tolerate the behavior of, and it’s also possible to dehumanize someone but tolerate their behavior.
They’re simply two different things. Slightly related maybe, but distinct.

I’m pretty sure they meant that. There are a lot of people who don’t see rich people as humans anymore. The irony is lost on them.
On most Lemmy instances, pictures get deleted after a few weeks to save storage space. If you want your picture to last, you need to find an image hoster yourself that you trust to keep the image online, and then share the URL to that.

You already took the first, most important step. Now you just continue from here.
Feel yourself in the moment. Decide to do anything you want and go do it, even if it is stuff “from past you”. Then make a conscious effort to record/remember the way you feel while doing it.
Do you get the urge to continue doing it? To stop it? Do you like/dislike it? Use those feelings to guide your next decision, and then just repeat.
There is nothing bad about what your past wanted either. If you still want to go for those dreams, you certainly can. Those things may still be what your “current you” wants, even if it is influenced by your past.
Your “current you” consists of the past. Your “current you” is not separate from your past, your “current you” is only what it is now because of your past. With a different past you would have a different “current you”. Because of that, don’t see your past as something that doesn’t/shouldn’t exist, of course, in an optimal world, you wouldn’t have experienced those things, but you did experience them, and they will influence you in some way. The past influencing our present is just how humans work, if you had a nice childhood/whatever, you would also be influenced by those nice memories.
So deliberately trying to not do the things your past wanted doesn’t really make sense. But it also means that you don’t need to go for those past things either, which you’ve just figured out.
There is really no real reason to overcomplicate this. Just think about things you want to do right now, see how they feel right now, and then adjust your behavior accordingly.
Well that’s what I’m saying. I had Windows set up exactly like I like it. I disabled all telemetry, had custom hotkeys for everything, etc etc etc, everything worked exactly like I wanted.
There was just a little thing in the background that made it make sense to switch to Linux, Windows getting shittier, MS dropping support etc etc
In the end, of course it’s not exactly the same thing, but that’s what’s happening to x11 as well, it does get “shittier” (comparatively) as less development time is spent on it, it doesn’t get improved as much as Wayland, gets less support etc. So if you just use a scale of “good <> bad”, over time, x11 goes more towards bad and Wayland more towards good, same as Windows vs Linux.
Funny, this is basically the exact thing I said about switching from Windows to Linux at one point. Of course not about Wayland and window managers, but about the customization I did and the need to port it over.

Dude even if your tax rate is 50%, that means you still earn like 7k per month. That’s so rich, I wouldn’t even know what to do with that amount (except pay off my house loan in like 3 months instead of 3 years lol)

Isn’t the whole game around 1.5 hours long in total? oO so you returned the game after you finished it?

Perfect explanation. This kind of thing shows why tech giants are giants and why selfhosted is a niche. People like paying for convenience.
No one deserves to be treated like that. The fact that there are people that righteously believe people deserve to be treated like that is part of our problems as a society.
Unsolicited advice is asshole-behavior, like it or not.
I guess they meant “beyond repair if you don’t have access to a live boot USB or the means to create one”. Gotta remember who this warning is meant for. For those kind of users, “beyond repair” might technically be true.
It’s just symbolising how much money they make off you with each option. Makes sense to me.
