I am sick and tired of Indeed. It nothing but sales jobs and it ignores your filters. Monster full of scams or just links to other job searching sites that want you to create an account on their platform. Last ziprecuriter is also full of spam and garbage.
Working from home a year now and tired of the bullshit. Now not getting paid because computer stop working and having to wait for a replacement. On top of always working with no back to back days off.
Anyone know best place to apply? Tried locally but nothing but low pay retail and fast food jobs in the area. I have insurance license and still willing to work remotely.
I don’t think which job site you use matters all that much, as long as you’re using it to find the careers page for the company that you want to apply for, and apply there, rather than through the aggregator.
The important function is you only know a small number of companies that might hire for you. So you need to find more alternatives. Once you know who they are you can apply.
Don’t forget that who you know is more important than what you know. So talk to everyone you know. Maybe they know someone who is hiring and can get you a position not posted and thus no competition.
Sometimes the company is obscured on job boards, sometimes the company does not update their careers page. It’s easy to say “fuck that company then” when you’re in a comfortable position, but you don’t feel much of a choice when you’re desparate to change.
Things my boss didn’t understand at my last job. No one applies because your indeed page sucks. No one knows who you are and your business name doesn’t imply what you do. People will scroll right past you.
Nah, I get that feeling that you’ll do whatever it takes. My suggestion is a lot more helpful for the first 50 applications than say applications 250 to 300, I’ll admit. But I’ll stand on the idea that, given an easy apply button on an aggregator, and filling out the application on a company’s career site, I have found more success with the latter than the former, on average.
When I was looking for a job out of school a few years ago, if it wasn’t patently obvious what company I was applying to, I just scrolled to the next listing. There certainly wasn’t a shortage of listings to choose from, even though many of them ghosted me or may have been fake positions in the first place.
I only got a handful of interviews and 2 offers from ~300 applications, it’s really just a numbers game to some extent. Definitely not worth wasting time applying if they can’t be up front about who you’re applying to.
