I’m like 62% confident there is no such existing community. You should make one! We’re always hurting for active mods, and people with a strong vision for the kind of community they want are the ideal candidates. Make sure to post it to !newcommunities@lemmy.world so folks know to join.

I like that they’re all connected — I can follow the portion of my friends who prefer a more Instagram type of social media, or a more TikTok style of social media, or a more Reddit style of social media, all from my mastodon account.

I think I’d be pretty restrictive. Most of the arguments for free speech revolve around the idea that you need it to reform or overthrow a corrupt government, but we already have the ideal philosopher king (me) as the benevolent dictator, so we don’t need those pesky freedoms.

Austin is much less dense and the public transit is much worse, so I didn’t get to see much when I was there. Mostly it seems like decent music venues and a reasonable bar scene? I like Seattle better than everything I saw of Austin except the Mexican food.

Please come to Seattle, it is delightful here and more lgbtq people are always welcome.

Does anyone bridge their threadiverse account to bluesky? I can’t imagine how disorienting it would be for your average Bluesky user to randomly come across a reply to a post from a piefed thread, for instance.

In software, it’s important to think about whether you should fail open or fail shut.
Personally, I prefer it when authors promote their own work – it’s nice to be able to ask questions about it directly.

I’m not gonna get into this one, but as a rule, if you’re on one of the default instances for a given fediverse service, such as mastodon.social, you should be using it to actively shop for a smaller instance more closely aligned with your interests.

I find the rest of the fediverse considerably kinder on average than the threadiverse.
