Besides, I’m from the Netherlands and I’ve known more native “leechers” than immigrant ones.

I argue that the people who voted for him REALLY wanted him in office and the people who couldn’t be bothered to vote at all were fine with any outcome, including Trump getting into office. So they may not be rabid supporters or active voters, but yes, they do support and enable him.

You know, people often think that not picking a side is some enlightened choice, that by doing nothing you’re actually doing nothing. But nothing is farther from the truth. Doing nothing IS a choice. It’s a choice to stay quiet and silently accept evil. It’s a choice to stay quiet in the face of injustice, it’s a choice to NOT help the victim. Staying neutral always helps the bully.

And we all know this. We learned this in kindergarten. Staying quiet always helps the bully. We knew this as kids, we witnessed it. Nobody gets to pretend they don’t understand this dynamic as a grown-up. It is a choice and they made it.

Yes, you can. When you can’t get off your ass to vote, then you’re basically saying that you’re fine with whatever happens. In this case risking fascism, which apparently was good enough for them.

By not voting, you’re enabling whoever wins.

You know if you allow this, they’ll expand it to other groups as well, right? I am constantly amazed that full-blown riots haven’t started. Peaceful protesting isn’t doing it, you guys.

Yeah, it’s been that way for decades. You just empty the jar/bag into the machine and it sorts/counts everything automatically, and then you can transfer the amount to your bank account.

When I was a kid I used to love this. We’d go sell stuff at flea markets and then take the bag of coins to the bank. Watch number go up, yay.

I’m very intolerant of behavior that tells me type of people they are. For example throwing garbage on the floor, or being unkind to serving staff, or something like that. Red flags for sure.

And of course there’s the obvious stuff that is an instant deal breaker, like bigotry, being anti-vax, hating cats (or animals in general), right-wing politics, etc.

You do if you’re from a country that doesn’t allow dual citizenship. I mean, it’s not a requirement on the U.S. side, but still.

I just can’t imagine how hopeless these people must feel. It’s a fucking nightmare. You’re accused of something you haven’t done (not that anyone deserves this, even if they are criminals), there’s no way for you to even make anyone listen to you and you’re dumped in a prison in a foreign country with no hope of ever getting out? It’s just… jesus christ, the injustice of it all is simply heartbreaking.

To think that millions of people are actually cheering for this is terrifying. If I were American, I’d be terrified. If “illegals” can’t have due process, then nobody has due process, because how are you going to prove you’re a citizen without due process? They can literally grab you off the street and send you to a concentration camp and there’s nothing you can do about it, because all they have to do is claim you’re illegal.

You know what? I understand the feeling. But then I realize that the poor guy waiting for a kidney is really not to blame for how fucked up society is.

Have to admit I know basically nothing about vultures. Can’t say I’m surprised that another (sub?)species goes extinct due to humans. We seem to be very good at that.

No, it’s actually the truth. You can’t imagine how many people share the sentiment that corpses > living people. I wasn’t being disingenuous, I’ve heard it so many times.

Edit: not sure what you mean with living in a vacuum? What I believe is that it’s a binary choice. You either choose to potentially help someone by being a donor or you don’t.

Sure, that’s fine. To each their own. Not the first time I’ve heard that prioritizing the living over the dead is ignorant.

Hmm, can you actually choose who the organs go to? In my country at least I don’t think that’s allowed. You’re either a donor or you’re not, but it’s doctors/hospital/board/however it’s called, who decide where the organs go, based on need, probability of success, etc. But I suppose that’s different in every country.

So we’ve established it’s a thing. I don’t mind agreeing to that. That doesn’t change my opinion about organ donation, however.

That sounds so weird to me. What if you have 4 siblings… they all own a quarter of you? But they’re not actually allowed to chop you in 4 pieces? What about stuffing. I get letting a body rot is a health hazard, but animals get stuffed all the time for people to display. And since humans are animals, and if the bodies can be owned… then that should be legal, right? As far as I know it’s not.

And even if… technically I own my own body… I can’t sell it, I can’t kill it (well I can, but suicide is still illegal as far as I know, not that most people care because when you’re succesful, it doesn’t matter if it’s a crime), I can’t chop it up and sell the pieces, or give it away. Hell, many people aren’t even allowed to get the medical care they need, because a bunch of strangers are deciding what’s best for you (abortion, trans healthcare). So if a bunch of strangers can decide what you can’t do with your body while you’re alive, then certainly they should be able to decide what to do with your corpse.

I’d posit that ‘ownership’ means very little when you can’t do anything with your so-called ‘property.’

Now I also wonder which laws take precedent. If someone… chops up the body of your loved one, which you ‘own,’ is it corpse desecration or destruction of property?
