This. I went to check the video and there’s no way any user would expect installing steam to uninstall system packages. And yes, even though there’s errors on the screen, the average user just clicks ok so that’s the most average user experience. I do think it is strange he went to terminal to try to install when the UI failed, but as an old power user I might’ve tried the same. All in all, very unlucky for him to run into that problem, but also any normal user who immediately couldn’t install steam would just be so put off by Linux not working immediately they’d probably go back to Windows. I was also genuinely surprised the video is only 3 years old
Lmao the gilded age is quite insane. I suppose it’s just right given how it came to be named.
He probably wishes it was still the 50s and is regressing the country as much as possible to return to the"good old days"
I wish I could ban old people from it as well because when their mental processing ability declines, so does their ability to detect bullshit news from bots
Wow, shift goalposts much? You said “$10 in qbert days” which was the 80s and now it’s not $10 it’s $30. You can just admit you got it wrong and it was never $10 (though I do think prices right now are actually well aligned at $60 because of the far lower costs in distribution and marketing). Also I’m NOT the OP who played thousands of hours on qbert. Great job quoting someone else.
$50-60 based on what? Adjusted for inflation in 1982, it’s more like $33 and distribution costs are way lower than back then. Truth is you just need to find a compelling gameplay loop but companies don’t like taking risks- not every game needs to be a massive endeavor like skyrim. Look at games like slay the spire and see how a cheap game can be compelling without having to be a AAA behemoth. And at that note, is there even anything wrong if a game only takes your attention for a hundred hours? I don’t see the need to extend the player’s attention with poor side quest grinding. These things add unnecessary cost
I like to think it’s because our education has gone really downhill, but I realize some of these people are so old it’s questionable how much they really know and understand. I’m genuinely baffled we don’t have a simple doctor’s check to see if people in retirement are still cognizant enough to vote responsibly- it’s the same issue with driving.
Imagine asking for documentation from this administration to do something legally (see: illegal deportations). Did you even read the article where the director from the Internet Archive had some words about the funding? Or the source article where they listed the cuts and even an a screenshot of a termination notice? Bootlicking is so sad. These morons aren’t gonna help you
A callback to his healthcare reform- the man has the concepts of a plan. Somehow that doesn’t deter his voters
Not wrong there, though I find it humorous they expected her to apologize in the dismissal letter
Impossible. Right to travel is part of the constitution, but I do wonder how it applies to emergency powers
Conservatives generally don’t care until it affects them personally. They lack this fundamental thing called empathy.
The amount of people who didn’t understand Colbert was performing satire was terrifying
Look up 2006 white house correspondents dinner on YouTube
Remember when they had Stephen Colbert roast GW during the dinner? That was peak comedy. These guys are such losers they know Trump won’t be able to handle being roasted, and somehow that’s OK for a world leader.
I mean we (anyone who has observed reality or knows history) already knew that. The poster above probably thought “tariffs = foreigner disadvantage”. There’s not really such a thing as a US-only car company so there is no advantage whatsoever to be gained- it’s inevitable that these US car companies have global supply chains to take advantage of specialization, not to mention labor and parts only made overseas. Even if you could bring everything inhouse, everything would more expensive. There is no “more cars for less money” because not only do we not have all the parts manufactured in the US (meaning we’re forced to import), but labor is more expensive. It’s all a waste of time and resources
Prices increase in response to increase in costs- this is so basic it’s covered in introductory econ courses and applies to all businesses. Adding costs to production has to be reflected in the final price. Tariffs pretty much never help consumers- they prop up inefficient industries that can’t compete with global trade. In general, global trade with low tariffs is better because of specialization
