The people who want to dehumanize others en masse are almost always fucked up weirdos, themselves. In a way it’s not even ironic, just an incredibly predictable trope / individual personality tragedy.
Like over half of autism “advocacy” out there is just affirmation for the self-deluded parents of autistic kids who secretly think it’s their fault that their kid is autistic (Even though it’s not) and so need to externalize blame elsewhere. Autism advocacy is a minefield because of these people.
Oh yeah sorry I didn’t mean for it to sound like I was contradicting you, I just love my EndeavourOS install so much I couldn’t help but chirp up! I would not recommend any arch to a new user, including EndeavourOS.
The devs of the OS spell it Endeavour. It’s one of those words that’s spelled slightly different in various parts of the English-speaking sphere. As it functions as a name here, I have no problem spelling it their way when referring to the OS.
It’s not hard if you’re into doing Linuxy stuff. A lot of new users are not, or find diving in too fast intimidating. Like it or not Arch is definitely in the deep end of the Linux pool.
The EndeavourOS forums are also a really good help source if you wanna ditch the LLM, users there are pretty friendly and it’s probably where it sources most of it’s relevant info anyway.
My gaming PC has been running EndeavourOS for about a year now. First ever time running any spin of arch and it’s been a stellar expirience. You can pry this desktop from my cold dead hands, I love it.
I recommended Mint to my partner and she wasn’t too enthusiastic about it after trying, I have Ubuntu on one of my laptops where she has a guest account and she actually prefers it even after hours of use so her new laptop is getting 24.04. I did do the diligence of explaining that Ubuntu is to Canonical as Firefox is to Mozilla, and why some Linux heads aren’t a fan.
I’m a Newpipe man myself but Revanced is also fantastic.
Centrists will blend quietly into the right the way that Homer backs his way into a hedge.
Willing to bet uBlock Origin will make it so I never see a single one of these ads.
Firefox forever.
Honestly I’m fairly certain they infight even harder than the left does. They just wouldn’t self-critically admit to it like we would. Cause they don’t self-crit.
Are we talking about actual leftist infighting, or mistaking liberals for the left and calling it infighting?
Also I’m almost certain that the actual left infights far less than the right. The only reason two Trump administrations hasn’t started the literal fourth reich yet is because they infight so hard that they can’t stick to any plan.
It’s very nearly a synonym for value extraction. I guess specifically it refers to the consequences of value extraction on the web, but really I think Doctorow’s whole goal with that campaign was to make people aware of how awful venture capital and value extraction really are for us. I’m less concerned with preserving a canonical definition of enshittification as I am getting people aware of the consequences of capitalist financialization. As a well-published author himself, I’m sure Doctorow is well prepared for figurative death of the author :P
Or a mentally troubled patient. Or a black patient. Or a woman.
Should justice be served, the irony is that this man will end up paying for 100 brand new books on civil rights and LGBT topics.
Oh wait… Ohio? Nevermind, not holding my breath…
How about you work on the blanket ban on fossil fuels / specific software computation, and I work on the low-hanging regulation that addresses two pressing issues in one go. Whoever finishes first promises to jump over and help the other finish their goal. That way we can avoid perfection being an enemy of good, while also striving toward perfection.
One of the largest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions are disused or decommissioned natural gas wells, which continue to leach methane into the atmosphere after being abandoned. Crypto mining has the potential to incentivize the decimation of these greenhouse outputs by using that methane to generate their power, outputting water and the much less harmful carbon dioxide as combustion product instead. But as mining is a profitability game, they won’t do that if there are cheaper and readily-available power sources to tap into. That’s why it’s crucially important for regulators to get smart about this: setting up rules that prohibit crypto mining on public power sources, identifying sites in need of pollution management, possibly incentivizing miners willing work within a framework where they can capture and utilize that pollution and show their work.
20 here as well. Started ~15 years ago when I dated someone who slept 20 and ever since it’s just felt natural. No pun intended. 18 is the most accommodation I’ll make when sleeping as a guest outside my house.
