My experience with Bazzite was that it was the distro that just works™, so it sucks you’re running into problems. Since time is a crunch, maybe check out the Pop_OS 24.04 beta. It comes with Nvidia drivers and the full release is just a week away. It’s also Ubuntu based so it should be easy for your friend if they are new to Linux.
