His posts are pretty nuts. Like, you’re already struggling against Ukraine. I can’t imagine things would go well if you invaded the rest of Europe too.

I can’t believe this is real lmao

Good luck I guess. Looking it up briefly gives US families having $1+ million net worth being in the 80th or 90th percentile (depending on the source), so somewhere between 1/5 and 1/10 families.

Are you talking about people with like 10s or 100s of millions or are you including people with just 1 million? In a number of places, you basically cannot easily buy a house without something approaching 1 million (which is a problem itself).
Also, I’ve seen this statement here several times now. Where is the line? 1 million is a pretty arbitrary value, so how many thousands is too much?

Yeah, sure, but a number of them still exist. They’re just mostly reliant on word of mouth now (or using something other than Google). There’s some old Star Wars forums that seem to still be surviving, for example.

They still exist, they’re just kind of rare. There’s even federated forums like NodeBB. I actively read stuff on SpaceBattles, Sufficient Velocity, etc. It’s admittedly difficult to find something with absolutely no like/karma system, but for instance the hellhole known as GameFAQs still exists.

Interesting username.

Is this what .ml means when they say to find a trustworthy source?
There’s some freaky shit on ao3.

Tbf offensive attacks are sometimes considered “security measures” as well.

This whole situation has been bizarre and really poorly communicated.

Pretty sure it was assumed he might be in them, but it only became extremely obvious that something potentially damning was in them when he started fighting it so hard despite saying he’d release them before getting elected.
But if you mean in general, then yeah, for sure lol.
sudo isn’t a coreutil. It’s also got a number of replacements that do pretty much the same thing (doas, run0, etc.), so I wouldn’t even call it one of the most important.
Firstly, Rust doesn’t need to “prove its worth.” It’s been in use in prod in other contexts for years.
Secondly, sudo is still actively getting a decent number of commits every month and has been riddled with bugs. For instance, just a few months ago there was a critical privilege escalation vuln. This rewrite is stripping out functionality that is deemed unnecessary.

Difference is compiling an app from source for Android is not really feasible on Android devices, whereas doing so on macOS is literally built into the package managers for macOS and is generally pretty trivial beyond it taking more time.
Also, macOS doesn’t prevent you from running the apps entirely.

Pretty sure it’s still around. Nix is an option as well.

Yes, but you can still compile the code yourself. It’s only problematic for binary distribution. This is basically a question of balancing security vs. freedom I suppose.

By doing what homebrew currently does when you pass the --no-quarantine flag, which is call xattr.
Note that I’d probably support removing --no-quarantine if Apple’s notarization service was free.

Deprecating now will give a decent lead time for users using it to come up with another solution or adjust their workflows.
The adjusted solution/workflow: use something other than homebrew
You’re triggering my PTSD from the weekly cross-team meetings I’m forced to attend.
