6·1 month agoChemical Brothers - Under The Influence has always been my go-to system tester. The song itself is meh, but a good system will rattle your bones listening to it.
Even if the global birth rate dropped to ~1.75 kids per woman (currently it’s around 2.3), it would still take over 150 years for the world population to fall to half its current level. We are in no danger of humans becoming endangered, except by our own hands. I believe this is 100% related to him being an asshole.

My current job is WFH, so no one would know or care. But I previously had a safety sensitive job that held us to either the same or higher standards as the federal Dept of Transportation. They were so strict that we had posters advising against drinking kombucha at lunch or using pure CBD products at all. My SO at the time had a CBD balm that I would put gloves on to help apply because I didn’t want to risk it. The company said that while these products were likely fine, if an accident or something happened and we had to then take a drug test, any registerable amount would be grounds for immediate dismissal with no recourse.

More than 2,100 properties across the U.S. enrolled in the National Flood Insurance Program have flooded and been rebuilt more than 10 times since 1978, according to a new analysis of insurance data by the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC). One home in Batchelor, Louisiana has flooded 40 times over the past four decades, receiving $428,379 in insurance payments. More than 30,000 properties in the program, run by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, have flooded multiple times over the years.
As everyone has said, they have no legal basis to stop you from walking out, unless they’re asserting shopkeeper’s privilege, which has certain limits and opens them up to possible liability. This is why employees are trained that only managers and Loss Prevention can do that.
However, they absolutely are able to ban you from a store for not complying. How effective a ban is at a store that sees thousands of people walking in every day, I’m not sure. But it’s something to keep in mind if you have limited other options nearby.
Trump lies, repeatedly. The media they watch repeats those lies. They think they’re voting for what he’s saying. That, or just the racism.
Which has been the point. Politics touches virtually every aspect of life, so getting people to hate politics and disengage makes it that much easier for those with power to fuck everyone over.
2·3 months agoIt’s good timing that I’ve been learning Docker to run Jellyfin and *arr. Guess I’ll look into throwing matrix or mattermost on there now, too.
“At will” is the employment one regarding being able to be terminated without cause (as long as it’s not for a protected reason). “Right to work” is the one about not being required to join a union. But still, your point is valid.
