This is like asking what is the best or favourite South Park episode. I can’t think of a favourite studio Ghibli movie. But for me, probably the closest to my number 1 spot is “When Marnie was there.” I am not sure why, but the movie pulls a heart string for me and it feels more personal. I assume you are from the US. It may be the case in your country, but it is not necessarily that the right as a whole won the war, considering that other parts of the world still have leftist and liberal politicians ruling. As a matter of fact, they have gotten more popular as Trump’s brazen corruption and incompetence is setting example why not to elect populist right wing politicians.

For what it’s worth, if nothing existentially happens that would stop US from becoming a nation anymore like a civil war, politics typically swing back like a pendulum. Even at the extreme, politics could dramatically swing back to normalcy and empathy. We have had countries that were under dictatorship, but are now democratic like Spain and Portugal. Because the problem with dictatorships is that they become too corrupt and reality eventually catches up to those who were swooned by initial sweet promises of demagoguery.

Of course, what I just said now may not be reassuring to you because I am speaking from a place of relative safety, so you can take it or leave it.

I always say it is because the left in general has its roots in old school liberal value of “think for yourself”. So there typically tends to be maverick attitude and in-fighting. The best example is the Spanish Republicans during the Spanish Civil War; you have soc dems, communists and anarchists fighting together not just against fascists, but also themselves. The right, meanwhile value order and hierarchy, so they tend to easily set aside their differences. Again, the Spanish Civil War is the best example, with the Spanish Nationalists also composed of various factions with competing agenda, but managed to set aside their differences, which made it easier to do because they had a strong man figure to rally to.

But even so, Netflix still retain good sound quality compared to alternative sources.

I definitely look at the file size first. Although, as you already alluded to, sometimes it gets cheated with the resolution being cropped to either the top or side. And a major issue with downloading large file sizes is if you are unlucky enough that there aren’t many seeders.

The only limitation on sailing the high seas is that the video and sound quality are not as great as legit streaming. You get descriptions that claim it is ripped full 4k or HD, but when actually looking at the encoding, it is not the case. But what can we do? If we are being made to stream in shit, it is better to sail in blue ocean high seas.

I just want to say that saying only right-wing groups are promoted by Kremlin is American-centric (understandable since most audience on the Internet are Americans, but this leads to insularity in discussions). The far-left is also funded and promoted by Kremlin, especially in Europe where many far-left parties are Russia-apologists, and either have lukewarm support or blame Ukraine for being invaded. There is little information if the American far-left are co-opted by Kremlin. The leftist group, in the broadest sense of the word, is nonexistent in the US because of decades of fear mongering that made the group too insignificant to gain media attention. But if we count Jill Stein and the Green Party as left, then we can say some sections of the left have been compromised by Kremlin, because Stein had been hesitant to call Putin a dictator in an interview.

I do get into political debates, but I don’t overshare my real info and I certainly don’t ban anyone for disagreeing with me. I find it cringe if anyone bans someone for disagreement to maintain “mental health”. Unless someone is stalking or making a calculated harrasment on the person online, sure ban or report the troll, but banning someone because the person does not have a good response shows pettiness and immaturity.

I have kind of arrived to the same conclusion. If people asked me what is love, I would say it is a religion.

It has been a long time since I watched Her, but my takeaway from the movie is that because making real life connection is difficult, people have come to rely on AI which had shown to be more empathetic and probably more reliable than an actual human being. I think what many people don’t realise as to why many are single, is because those people afraid of making connections with another person again.
