I appreciate your concern. I know what I’m signing up for.

All I know is, with as much withholding as the government has been doing, they aren’t getting a dime from me for my loans. Come and get it, if you still have enough of a functioning department to.

That’s more or less how I deal with any economic numbers these days. Just one mans salary. No big deal.

I can only speak for me, but I’m happy to keep making the state replace expensive cameras. More time focused replacing them means less new ones, and less uptime.
We can’t choose what they spend the money on, but we can collectively let them know when they fuck up.

I just had a very similar conversation last night with some family and friends. There was a time when I would ignore shitty people’s opinions… After all, neither of us will change each other’s minds. However, that’s exactly how we got here. Those seemingly fringe, hurtful opinions now decide things for everyone. I’m not quiet any more.

It did not have sand in the paint. It had the adhesive strips on top of the paint.

So there’s this daycare down the street from me. It has had a rainbow colored access ramp for as long as I can remember.
It’s now painted black.
It could be completely unrelated, but I highly doubt it.

This is like a group project in school. Is it your fault that another member didn’t complete their part and the project received a failing grade? Nope. Did you still receive a failing grade? Yup. We failed. All of us. I’m with you that regular people aren’t to blame for the actions of the state, but that changes nothing. Here we are…with an F on the report card. I didn’t earn this grade, and neither did you. Now it’s on us to drag that grade back up, as a group.

I still stand by my comment. Four years later, and we are still sitting in the bullshit for round two. We, as a country, failed the task at hand.

This is the point I keep reminding myself of. We had four years to do anything at all. We all knew version 2.0 would be back like deja vu but worse, and we (as a country) just let it.

Lemme try and feel sorry for my cartoonishly rich tech overlords real quick…

Headline tomorrow: “Trump appeals decision against New York Times, suit remains.”

It’s had me thinking a lot about the tolerance paradox. Where exactly is the line? How should it be handled? Will we get better without violence? Is violence necessary to fight back against dangerous ideas? Who should be the ones holding the line against dangerous ideas? What could we have done differently to ensure we didn’t get here? Will we make any changes or learn anything from this? What duty do we have to protect the marginalized communities that this kind of speech affects?
I’ve certainly drawn some conclusions of my own pondering this, but I still have plenty of unanswered questions.

Honestly, I think you’re simply adding to the point being made. There’s places guns aren’t allowed that are super common in every city, and someone still got shot there? This will only lead to more places having gun bans (since we won’t actually do anything meaningful for gun control)… meaning more places that criminals are the only ones carrying guns around shooting people.
… That’s just common sense though.

All I’m saying is, if I was required to spend hours at work without pay, I would be an absolute prick at work as well.

Yep, you’ve landed right where I did by trying to learn the legal loopholes. We’re in for a wild ride no matter what.

Here’s my understanding, though I could have missed something while trying to navigate the law. In order for Trump to be able to pull this with the national guard, he needs the consent and authorization of the Governor. He would never get this from blue states, so I imagine the goal is to have red states hand him free power, then target the blue areas within that state. Once we’ve normalized it a bit, it’s easier to force it on the remaining states.

All my homies vote for Pedro.
