Yea, I was pretty disappointed with it as I really wanted to move to AMD. I’m glad it’s going well this time around though.

No, it wasn’t a driver clash. I tried a lot of things including downloading the pro drivers that were also recommended on trying. At the time, there was a problem with AMD cards and CryEngine games performing badly.

Switching might not fix your issues, and might just be swapping for other issues.
Ive been running Nvidia with Linux for over 10 years and its improved significantly over that time. Around the time the 30xx series came out I was looking to upgrade from my 1080ti - I wanted to switch to AMD (because I heard the drivers are better) I got a 6900XT and had heaps of problems and even worse performance in some games than my 1080ti. I ended up returning it and got a 3070ti instead, and I had no problems and performance was great.
About a month ago I wanted to upgrade my 3070ti and give AMD another shot with a 9070XT - its been absolutely flawless this time around.
All this is to say there are no guarantees going AMD will solve your problems, but I would consider going an AMD 9070 series instead - particularly since their FSR Redstone thing only applies to the latest cards

Except they’re wasting tax payer money, which is shitty.
I hope at least it helps reduce pressure on kids that they need social media from their peers, it can be a pretty bad place to be (regardless of age really).
Thats about all the good from it, my fear is everything else that comes after. Mainly that they’ll force devices to be linked to a person, which means you’ll need a way to have approved devices that can access sites etc, which means you can only use a browser that has device attestation, which means no more free and open ecosystems of applications or operating systems (LineageOS, GrapheneOS, etc)…
Fuck all this.

When I upgraded my GPU last I tried for the first time since ATI was a thing to leave nvidia and go AMD. I tried to get a 6900XT but just had endless issues with drivers, which I was surprised about because if you believe a majority of Linux users it should have been flawless - it was not. I had endless issues with drivers and games running badly. I caved and returned it for a 3070ti - trust me I tried a lot of things.
Anyway, I’ve since tried AMD again and upgraded to a 9070XT and the transition this time has been absolutely flawless, even keeping the same install (CachyOS has a guide to swap from nvidia to AMD).
This is all to say, don’t believe the hype around AMD but at least give it a try and don’t feel too bad if it doesn’t work out for you. Ultimately both nvidia and AMD have been improving significantly over the years

Yea I wouldn’t be too concerned with trying just because you have an Nvidia GPU, I’ve been running it for years and haven’t had any show stoppers. Now is probably the best time to give it a go.

Accenture… There’s your answer. Absolute scumbag company. KPMG, DXC… All those massive companies run huge con jobs on any of those Government contracts. Wouldnt be surprised if they claimed they had 20 people working on it, but it was only 2 full timers.

I’ve noticed Zorin does a lot of marketing and it comes in waves, you won’t hear anything for months then it’ll be everywhere for a few days.

There’s a dad joke in there somewhere

I think a lot of people are going to be disappointed in the price. From what I’ve read, and watched, its not going to be competitive like the Deck - it’ll be more expensive than the current consoles. I just have a feeling people are underestimating it this time around.
I remember you could customise your character the same way in the files in GTA 3

I really hope it won’t be a case of requiring a Steam Machine with SteamOS on there for this to work.

Awesome. I really needed this about 5 years ago, but I’m glad they’ve added it for sure.
At least be scientific about it:
Fuckin AI is everywhere, unbelievable!
OK, imagine youre in a new car and youre like hmm donuts are good. But you know that when flight was first discovered it was scary, then after all that scares you knew it was worth while running the distance. Sometimes you gotta know when to fold em.

You can use tools like FernFlower to help turn that bytecode into actual Java.

Basically a bunch of players are dropped into a game map, and normally your objective is to go around and collect as much loot as possible, then after some time or you’re ready to leave, you need to find the extraction point - this will save your loot and that run is over.
Some extraction shooters are PvE, and some are PvP, some are both. If you get killed with all your loot before you get to the extraction point you lose it all. It can be pretty stressful, and unbalanced if its PvP where some players play much more then you do therefore have better weapons etc
I understand. The 3070ti is still a good card - I personally think you might be disappointed getting an equivalent AMD card because its no guarantee to solve your problems or improve performance.
Again this is all my personal opinion etc, weigh up your pros and cons. Prices can vary a lot in different regions. You might be able to snatch up a bargain.
