7·6 days agoBecause capitalists don’t like regulations? When you let corporations become the sole driver of the economy, some of them get really big, so big they can easily buy out the people who are supposed to regulate the market.
Why do you think all companies are bending the knee and ass kissing trump? Because you get what you want when you bribe him enough.
Also isn’t lobbying legal in the US? It’s almost like the country was made by capitalists assholes to make it easy to subvert regulations.

I would rather a guess that it’s way more than the early days of the internet, but it seems like the most amount of effort these people can put is to whine about the good ol’ days.

It was already bad enough when people copied code from interwebs without understanding anything about it.
But now these companies are pushing tools that have permissions over users whole drive and users are using it like they’ve got a skill up than the rest.
This is being dumb with less steps to ruin your code, or in some case, the whole system.
Most of the claims against that are tweets by police. And the police have never been caught lying, right?
“Mostly false” should be turned into “insufficient evidence” because there doesn’t seem to be convincing evidence on both arguments.

57·14 days agoAnyone can edit Wikipedia is a false belief. There are moderators who monitor popular posts from being edited. These moderators are usually from PR management companies who spend a lot of time editing pages to appear legit and also sell their services for a fee.
So, NO, anyone cannot edit it or even add factual data without the approval of a “moderator” who may be awfully biased at not letting bad comments about their clients publicized.
The founder himself is not hiding his bias. It’s always been used as political and commercial PR by politicians and companies but with a cover of being an “Encyclopedia”. Just like how many NGOs are fronts for government intelligence agencies.
If you want to prove me wrong, go ahead and give it a try and let’s see how long that “edit” lasts.

Back then it was just buttons and they usually did what it said on the manual, but now devices have to connect to the internet and have unlimited privileges Then you have to deal with unintuitive UI, agree to multiple ToS and EULA, agree to give them access to your data, just to initialize.
Most people have no idea how to do that.
