For me: noticed, even if it is not too cold, but too warm, I need a blanket to fall asleep. The weight of the blanket makes it more comfortable, I guess? 🛌
I can only sleep with a blanket too. If I not covered by a blanket the monsters will get me!
Summer time, yes. I run hot and just need a pillow
Winter a bed sheet is generally all I need. I do that like to sleep and sweat
Nope. Can’t even recall the last time I tried.
And I think some amount of weight helps. I have a down sleeping bag that is almost too light and I vaguely recall trying to sleep with a Mylar blanket sucking. (But that could have been other factors.)
No, I need something to keep a pocket of warm air around me, unless:
- It’s hot enough I’d sweat with the blanket on
- I’m tired enough I’m actively fighting to stay awake
- I’m wearing something equivalent to a blanket like a puffy jacket (for the times I was exiled to the couch in college)
I need something to cover my ear as I sleep on my side due to…anxiety? Autism? Some terrible deep thing I don’t know about? So blanket it is.
This is painful in the summer.
I can sleep more places (I’ll place my hand over my ear) but because I’m contorted it won’t be a good or long sleep.
I converted sweat pants into shorts and the length i took off i was able to fold in half inside of itself so it made a double layered tube. It’s been a great sleepy mask because it covers ears and eyes thoroughly without making my head too hot. Maybe this can be an option for you?
I can fall asleep on the bus. It’s fine.
I’m so weird about this. If I’m sitting or slightly reclined, I can sleep fine without a blanket. Once I’m horizontal, 100% need a blanket
Nah, I gotta burrito up.
No. I will sweat my entire bag off over the night to have a blanket. I have been laying ice packs around my bed every night recently, to offset my weird blanket insanity.
weird blanket insanity
I have a weighted blanket. Some nights it’s the best. Some nights I feel trapped by the weight. That aside, I find that if I keep one leg out my body temp is just fine. Otherwise, I get too hot. But also, some nights my leg gets too cold and I need to cover back up.
~“Normal” is a privilege I cannot afford.~
Sometimes I like to double up
Every summer I have to re-learn how to sleep without a blanket. I used to turn on the air conditioner so my room is cool enough to sleep with a blanked before I realized that’s dumb as hell.
You have never visited a tropical country I presume.
Up until my mid-twenties, yes. Lived in a tropical country and no A/C, just fans. I only started using a blanket when I finally lived in a place with A/C.
If a sheet counts as a blanket no. I need at least a sheet.
No. Even in the summer during a heatwave I was sleeping with a 15 tog duvet because I need the weight, until I got a weighted blanket which is much more comfortable. I can fall asleep on the couch without a blanket though which is weird, just not in bed.
I can sleep on the couch if I’m dressed in bed I’m usually just in underwear.
Do weighted blankets retain heat all? I love blankets, but it has been difficult to use anything more than a thin sheet (and even that is often stretching it) when it is crazy hot outside and the upstairs isn’t cooled well by the AC.
They seem pretty good for not trapping too much heat, but we have quite cool summers here so what I would consider an unbearably hot day is probably different to most people. I could comfortably sleep in it under 24°C, anything above that and I can’t sleep no matter what type of blanket I have anyway. There are cooling ones made of cotton that might work if you’re in a hotter climate but they cost a fair bit more.
