I started before that. I did some LTL and OTR driving. You could find showers and some washing machines, if they were working, to wash your clothes along the interstates, but get off the road any distance and that all went away. I always loved getting to Ohio because their wayside rest stops had free showers for truck drivers. A welcome relief from paying $5 to $8 dollars to take a shower. If you wanted a free shower, you had to buy enough fuel for that.

He might be pissed now about driving 16 hours, but I can guarantee that he did drive those hours at times back in the day.
