the walmart store brand sliced bread has been made so cheap now, there’s no ‘substance’. it can’t stand up in a toaster without literally “wilting”. so it will toast crooked and then not pop up because it gets stuck. i have an old toaster, probably from the 1980s. not for ‘bagels’ either, just a normal narrow-slot toaster. it has no safety cut-off on it… i dunno if that’s even a thing… but it will not shut off the heating elements when it gets stuck and can’t “pop up”. the whole thing is a fire hazard.
