i will be using plasma bigscreen, running my jellyfin server, maybe play some steam games (decently light ones), maybe run a minecraft server, watch youtube, stream like netflix etc.

The better solution to your problem is a set top streaming box that doesn’t suck and troubleshooting your existing jellyfin server.

Doing that will save you significant amounts of money.

Do you still have the laptop jellyfin server?

Okay, what can’t connect and what’s the error?

Are you trying to connect by ip in your web browser to port 8096 like <server internal ip>:8096?

Try to connect to the jellyfin web interface using a computer and web browser by going to <jellyfin server ip (like 192.168.1.10)>:8096

You can find out your jellyfin server ip by typing “ip address” into a terminal on your server if your jellyfin server is Linux or macos and “ipconfig” into a terminal on your server if your jellyfin server is windows.
