    Ah I think it would be more appropriate to enact excise taxes on energy to the us at this point maybe 10-15 cents a kwhr 30-50 per barrel of oil.

    Call it the asshole tax

      Not sure where Lemmy gets its information from, but Canada is a net importer of US electricity since 2023.

      And we don’t make oil, we extract bitumen sludge and send it to be refined in Texas.

      You want the damage to be quick and brutal so as to cause as much friction as possible, taxes won’t necessarily due this due to the fact the goods and resources that are effected would likely still be present. Better to remove materials outright and cause as much friction as possible, make the demands for Trump’s removal clear and also make it clear that succession would have the same opening of trade.
