I bought a height adjustable frame, bought a beech wood board, milled the edges round, and oiled the whole thing (I don’t like lacquer, I want to feel real wood). The biggest pain in the ass was grinding the transitions between the glued sticks flat enough, especially so that my mouse doesn’t notice them, but also for it to feel good. Belt sander ftw.
