In the new document, unveiled late last week, the Trump administration upends postwar assumptions about Europe’s close relationship with the United States and takes European countries to task for continuing to rely heavily on the U.S. for their defence. Reuters reported on Friday that Washington wants Europe to take over the majority of NATO’s conventional defence capabilities, from intelligence to missiles, by 2027.

The USA was a manufacturing powerhouse, then in the late 20th century they outsourced loads of that to China for that sweet sweet cheap labour.

But it didn’t matter because they are the world’s richest country with the largest military force.

If Europe becomes self-reliant in defence, what does America have to leverage as global leaders without manufacturing or defence? Money? What does that mean when it’s backed up with fuck all? Nukes? Everyone and their mother has nukes now.

They just keep shooting themselves in the foot through greed, complacency, and ultimately hubris. I love it. Fuck the USA.

    Germany’s spy chief

    Who?

Sinan Selen, Vice President of the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV)

Ah, the only place that mentions his actual position is the description of the title image.

Read between the lines. He is saying “we don’t need to break with the US” while then proposing the steps needed to break with the US. That is a political statement to not anger the dummies in the white house, while calling for action to competent people in Europe’s administrations.
