Frankly I just use the website installed as a web app. I’m quite happy with it. I lost a bit on the ux of thread closing but I get access to the emoji picker from my instance which is invaluable.

Never used pleroma, but poa.st is a neonazi/fascist instance. Their instance data was leaked a few years ago and just looking at the DMs leaked and the wordcloud it was even more vile than their usual racist posting.
