  • So you’d rather allow Trump a 3rd term then, is that what I hear you saying?

Term limits might not be great for very long term, but you need to start with a great candidate in the first place, which America’s not had on a long while either.

Again, there an issue with the 2 party system, and that’s that they’re bought and paid for by billionaires and mega corps. America didn’t make all this progress from the 1700s into now by flip flopping parties all the time. The idea is to have the people’s best interest at heart, and part affiliation was a representation of some ideals. Anymore, everything has gone to one extreme or the other-(by design of media) to force you on one side or the other… Now with tug of war, nothing really changes.

A NEW 3rd party -independent of the 2 others -could break the cycle more than we know. If a candidate actually represented the people’s best interest, they could be aliens from outer space for all I care. If our government actually had trustworthy members, we’d steadily progress regardless of affiliation. Term limits IMO help keep those greedy with power, out, out maybe at least theoretically…

  • How would a term limit or especially age limit be anti Democratic? If someone “in power” abuses that power, there’s a limit to the damage that can be done. Even more, the system of checks and balances is not working as Trump is basically doing whatever he wants.

Long term thinking would be getting out of the broken 2 party system that the media and billionaire-controlled propaganda are spewing to keep focus on division rather solutions.

Both current “parties” are corrupt-whether equally or not it’s irrelevant. The argument of minimum wages is a joke because Democrats held office for 12 of the last 18 years it hadn’t changed.

We need to not only elect independent candidates for various offices positions, we need to fight to change the law eliminating corporate overreach by funding their campaign pets who will change the laws to their donor’s benefits (like Elon and Trump)

    A. Stop using big tech it shrinks their hold over there American people as all as their buying power. B. Choose independent candidates who actually fight for the people. Not “a side” you mostly align with. C. Vote vote vote as much as anyone can. D. DO NOT BRING YOUR DEVICES to any protests as their often tracked, monitored, etc.

  • My question is: While privacy seems to be increased with federated platforms, are they really that much more private? Do bots and web scrapers still track contents of various instances/servers?

I’m guessing the data can be tracked well enough even though less details about each user are required. Obviously with reddit you can limit only so much info about you with the account. Lemmy and/or other platforms, are they really better?? Sure, maybe not Meta owned, bought and sold for users’ data, but likely still data being harvested in some manner.

  • God, it’s not hard to read an article instead of speculate in the comments.

The new built in blocker will use Brave’s adblock library and run in Waterfox’s main browser process rather than as an extension. Kontos says this should make adblocking faster, more tightly integrated, and less dependent on extension APIs or constant upstream updates.

He also said Brave’s library was chosen partly because its MPL 2.0 license is a better fit for Waterfox, while deeper integration with a blocker like uBlock Origin would be more complicated because of its GPLv3 license.

Waterfox will still make one exception by default by allowing text ads on its default search partner page, currently Startpage, as a way to support the browser financially. The team clarified that this is Waterfox’s own revenue decision and not something inherited from Brave’s adblocking technology. Users who want stricter blocking will be able to disable all ads with a single setting, while people who already use third party blockers can keep using them as usual.

This, to me, is fine, because I change the default regardless. There’s nothing stopping anyone else from doing the same. Sure, this could potentially open the door for additional “greedy” decisions down the road, but let’s not jump to conclusions.

  • No, mSATA looks like m.2 but is functionally different, using SATA data not PCIe.

If you’re using some m.2 to RJ45 adapter, I’m guessing you’re limited to the 1Gbs RJ45 bandwidth regardless of the card’s technology, unless your Ethernet is 2.5Gb or something faster.

Even if your m.2 PCIe devices support greater speeds, the adapter itself might have “USB 2.0-like” throughput.

Best bet it you’re looking to add PCIe devices to a supermicro motherboard, buy a m.2 PCIe expansion card to achieve this so you can natively utilize PCIe lanes for the best bandwidth whether it’s WiFi, storage, etc.

Edit: I realize you said additional sata ports which they have PCIe SATA expansion boards too.

  • To me, “Influencers” are fucking terrible at “acting”, they’re desperate for attention and validation, and have little viable skills with anything online. They’re all obnoxious, loud, and overly energetic like in a state of panic trying to sell their souls for more views for ad revenue and sponsors.

If they’re the next to be picked for lead-or even supporting acting roles, I’m out. I won’t touch another Hollywood movie again, which says a lot, bc I own about 5k DVDs, Blu rays, UHD BD, and yes, even several dozen in 3D…
