Went for the midnight release of Death Stranding. I wasn’t really interested in the game, but Hideo Kojima was there signing games, so I went and got his signature and a picture.
It’s not really my type of game and I never finished it, but I love Kojima and I’m happy I got the signature.
Yes, a pencil can do a whole bunch of different. things. GenAI cannot do things. It has no purpose. Pencils were made to write stuff. GenAI was made to ???. It is a technology in search of a problem to address. A niche to fill. It has no purpose as it stands, yet it is supposedly the most important thing ever to the point where the rich and wealthy are losing their minds investing into it on the vague hopes that it’ll do something. They’ve even got our government in on it; the US economy is being dangerously propped up by this industry that doesn’t solve any problems or fulfill any purpose. All the things it does are novelties and even then, it does those things poorly and unreliably.
Tools at home improvement stores were made to fulfill a specific purpose. GenAI still does not have a purpose it fulfills despite having hundreds of billions of dollars invested, not to mention all the other resources it’s sucking up.
An intern probably would not go on a mass deletion spree. Also, an intern doesn’t eat a billion gpus.

You aren’t wrong that putting money into the economy raises inflation. However, the inflation from SNAP disbursements is inconsequential compared to stuff like putting tariffs on everything or allowing corpos to raise prices out of pure greed. There’s really no point in examining SNAP’s effect on inflation when there are much more consequential concerns to focus on.

The way I read jimothy’s comment is that Republican politicians are using trans people as a distraction from issues they don’t want to address. Conservatives are making problems by claiming trans people are bad in order to deflect attention away from problems their constiuents actually care about.
Conservative voters, if presented with the choice of healthcare or trans athletes, would absolutely prefer their politicians to focus on healthcare. A farmer in Iowa does not actually give a fuck what bathroom a trans person uses, their attention has just been redirected in that direction by grifters.
They sure as hell didn’t act like they wanted to win. Dancing around with Liz Cheney or promising stricter border control doesn’t exactly scream winning strategy to me. The Dems started out with the very popular idea of going after grocery chains that were gouging customers, but dropped that line of messaging after Kamala spoke with her brother in law who is an Uber exec.
