Just goes to show that billionaires have no taste. Whether it is home-grown versus store bought tomatoes or gluing gold spray-painted plastic to the walls, their lack of aesthetic is showing.
I really don’t notice a difference between home grown or store bought. But I really think it depends on the store and season you’re buying from. If it’s actually in season, supplies are more local and fresh. If you’re buying a tomato in February, of course it is going to be awful, it’s being shipped thousands of miles. And you can’t grow your own tomatoes in February unless it’s in your house or a green house (which is a luxury I’ve never even met someone I knew had. You own a whole other building, on property? You own property in which you can fit another building?!)
Apples are the worst offenders, if you’re buying apples in spring, you’re buying last year’s harvest.
I grow my own tomatoes. In my area the difference between the homegrown and storebought is night and day (with the homegrown ones being way better). I understand how it could be regional though.

yeah I can’t believe someone has eaten a tomato fresh from the garden and is not like. WOW!
