    exemption won’t really matter in the end. for sites and services that ‘rely’ on these bullshit verifications–linux will be a non-conforming, non-participant. and you won’t be able to access those things from linux… not unlike how rooted & 3rd party firmware phones are treated now by many financial and streaming apps.

    Sincere but possibly stupid question: what keeps people from joining a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing access as a proxy? Businesses have accounts for all kinds of services for the use of their constituents.

      The fact that big tech would ban any such organization the moment they discovered its intentions. It is legal to do, but when a monopoly refuses to do business with you, and the government won’t enforce antitrust laws to force them to provide access, your options are pretty limited.
