I have the impression that since HIV was controllable, people just stopped using condoms. There are other reasons to wear a condom other than HIV that may bring life long issues.

This may also be a generational thing. In the early 2000s there was a lot of emphasis on using condoms. I don’t think the kids in the 2010s and now 2020s are getting the same level of indoctrination.
