Similar post was made on the .world lemmy community but I banned from there and some people don’t federate world so I though I’d ask here too to see how the answers differ.
fossilesque is a big one for me that I didn’t see in the .world post
I recognise you.
For no particular reason.
Shhhhh, our time together was beautiful but it should stay between us ❤️
“Was”
*sigh* :-(
I’m just not looking for long term committments is all. I hope you understand
I was hoping for more of a FWB sort if arrangement … I know I could never compete with your other sharks
It was one night and they were high; you called it a week. This is why they ran away.
I always come on too strong, hoping upon hope another will feel equally passionately. Le sigh.
Hey, maybe you’re just a Sharknado. Intense, a bit much sometimes, but for whatever reason people keep enjoying your presence. We love you best when you know who you are and embrace your foibles 🥰
I’m not very good at remembering peoples inside-joke Lemmy handles that mean nothing to me. I liberally use user tags to keep track of people, most often people I want to warn future-self away from engaging with so I don’t waste my time. Racists, bigots, trolls, sea lions, etc.
how do you tag people?
Probably one of the apps. I use the web browser version because I have been classically conditioned to loathe installing apps on my phone.
i tried it and didn’t find it any more useful than browsing lemmy with firefox and i keep asking why others use it in case i’m missing something, but no one ever responds to my question.
It’s a feature of the Voyager app and from what I can gather, at least some other apps too.
You have to turn the feature on in settings, then just click into the user profile right next to where one would block a person, there’s an option to apply a user tag.
can you share these tags with other people?
No, they’re for you as the user only.
I mostly use them to 1) track interesting people like there’s a guy on here who’s a Jellyfin Roku app developer. I don’t remember his name, but pay attention to his comments when I see his tag. 2) people who are bad faith trolls whose usernames I won’t remember but don’t want to get sucked into investing time answering their questions when they’ll just be racist asshats in response.
👋
It’s always pretty hard to forget “satansmaggotycumfart”. I don’t really remember much of what they post but the name is always a trip.
From what I’ve seen, it’s pretty much what one would expect from a user named “satansmaggotycumfart”; the Critique of Pure Reason as a lived experience rather than a philosophical exercise.
@rainpizza@lemmygrad.ml visibly has a high power level
KOLANAKI
I like to tag all the users who pile on me as alts so I can keep track of them all. It’s funny how many people think they’re being sneaky by using alts to have “multiple accounts” disagree with you, as if that has any effect.
You got banned from a thread for racism and sexual harassment like an hour ago, when you act like that it doesn’t take a conspiracy to have multiple people disagreeing with you.
What was sexual harassment?
Keep sucking those billionaire tits like a good boy
Very normal stuff
That’s just you not understanding English idioms, and wanting everything to be sexual harassment.

Lol plus just casually admitting to the racism by not addressing it
You want things to be racism. Yet, they aren’t. This is all you have: fake accusations, and twisting words.
I have no idea what race you are, and I don’t care.
You ended an argument with someone about China with “but go ahead and get your 50 cents”.
Explain why this idiom has the intended demeaning effect, without implying sexual submission and drawing on societal shame. Even further, explain “good boy.”
Forget to switch?
Forget that you sexually harassed me? The only alts I have have the same username, just on different instances.
@setsneedtofeed@lemmy.world for their tireless efforts in !simpsonsshitposting@sh.itjust.works
Mostly instance admins, but also some users such as @case_when@lemmy.world and @okokimup@lemmy.world due to their really good art on !artshare@lemmy.world.
i always recognize the active users from the old days on .ml when it was small and didn’t even have federation
i used to be aeronave@lemmy.ml
I recognize LadyButterfly from /c/womensstuff@piefed.blahaj.zone but that’s basically it
She’s cool, brings great vibes to the fediverse
From ML: @Cowbee@lemmmy.ml, Dessalines, Riverrock, Braininabox, Diva, and you too, Comradesharkfucker. From db0: db0, UniversalMonk Also: Deceptichum from quokk.au
I feel seen!

👋You know it’s bad when you start getting recognized on your arguing account
Arguments grab attention, you know?
That’s also why having a dedicated arguing account is nice, and makes me question why I never do that.
I thought that was what the .ml account was for, lol.
It is, but having different usernames would help keep them separate, I just use the same username on different instances lol
Not a lemmy user to my knowledge, but for a while I kept finding various social media accounts for a specific user.
They were (maybe still are? No clue) a very active and knowledged user of cplusplus.com, and we had some mild interactions over time.
Eventually, for some unknown reasons I got suggested its YouTube channel with some Minecraft videos, its GitHub account, and I found some comments of theirs on some Reddit threads here and there.
They now work for a software development house of a relatively obscure product that I have used before.
I regularly see a surprising amount of lemmy neighbours by their names, but not by their profile pictures, as voyager does not support showing them
Waaaay too many assholes from world and other trolls 😭.
But then there’s also awesome ones like op, cowbee and others that balance it out
Hey, weren’t you also one of those who were calling out .world on their zionist apologia?
I added the tag “tired” to somebody in one of those threads where people were talking about how to add tags to people, and I’ve completely forgotten why.
But, I see them every once in a while and have an “oh yeah, you” moment.
