People who have SOS/Service call button in their cars are also falling under this issue except it would only affect cars that has been outside of russian cellular towers for over 72h.

Also, maybe this is happening due to Porsche not willing to extend IoT sim subscriptions for russian citizens making their sims essentially to be disabled. But I am not sure how car manufacturer IoT sim contracts work. For a typical company/private person IoT sim contract is for 10 years with typically 1gb of data for the same timeframe. If car manufacturer contract is similar to that, this may be the reason why their cars are bricking.

In order to fight drones flying over the border from Ukraine, Russia implemented new restrictions to cellular connections. From like last 2 weeks they made so that when a sim card that enters russian border, it will be denied cellular connection for 24 hours. This also include russian sim cards that have been not connected to russian cellular network for over 72 hours.

Almost every modern car today has a sim that communicates with servers all the time. It is just that Porsche also has this feature that can track car remotely and immobilize on demand. It utilizes this type of sim card. Porsche itself has nothing to do with why they are bricked. It is a byproduct of russian attempts at preventing drone attacks which backfires spectacularly.

Say, if he got it because it was advertised as an offline device then why would he connect it to wifi anyway? The more I read this article, the more questionable this so called “IT specialist” is.

No one should be outraged. That is how all robovacs are working - use LIDAR to map area -> send back to server -> server calculates optimal cleaning route -> sends back info to vac -> vac cleans. Vac cant ping back to server - server thinks vac is dead. No killswitch is needed.

Also, app is not a necessity except we are forced to use it. But many would not like to lose an ability to track progress or start and stop cleaning from their phone outside of the home network. For these features, app and external server is a must.

The only real issue with robo vacs is that it is an IoT device. We should make manufacturers and brands to let us choose if we want to selfhost their software. But that would never happen.

As a hardcore fan of L4D, I just found it hilarious that I had to google for the name of their spiritual successor to L4D and that game before Back 4 Blood where you have 4 teammates hunt or be hunted by 1 big monster. Both are unmemorable abandonware games while L4D2 (also is kind of an abandonware) somehow is still played and is almost old enough to drink. Fucking timeless classic, I may say.

Last time I have heard about a L4D co-creator making another co-op game, we got Back 4 Blood which I got beta for and which sucked some major ass and eventually died in less than 2 years after release. So, no. I am not hyped and nobody should until they actually show a good game. Glad my beta was free. Didn’t had to pay for this crap to figure out it is crap.

Real! I once saw a post in some sub where mods were complaining about bot/AI problems lately. In comments there was a guy who said he is moderating a very niche sub about toyota trucks with a few thousands of users. He said that half of the posts in a day feature AI generated pictures of these cars. Can’t be real people posting it. I wonder what really happens in bigger subs.

It is riddled with bots. Like, you know. The whole thing supposed to be where people would collaborate, vote for the best design on their sub and then implement it on the canvas together. But instead we got bunch of bot accounts that would draw pictures faster than a speed of sound and not let anyone draw anything there but themselves.

And also, during IPO incident, spez decided that the best option to distract people from the elephant in the room would be to run (at that point already not so much) beloved r/place.

In this crazy world where it could actually happen, I don’t think they did it with intent. Most likely the haven’t had this in their plans, but they did plan on having a minor in the game to ride a horse. They thought that it would be a great idea to capitalize on Steam ban - that is undeniable. And I can’t blame them. That is indeed a perfect advertisement campaign - loud and, most importantly, free.

It is just hilarious to me that with all this clout and attention, their game is getting barely any buzz post-release. And also that the most posted article about Steam ban is mentioning them as one of the best idie devs out there when they are like mid at best.

Publicity stunt.

They got tons of publicity by being banned from steam. They harnessed it as much as possible which spawned the infamous “one of the best indie game developers” title in some news articles. Being banned from two major game stores brings a lot of eyes on their game. And even with a bright spotlight lightning up their game - still barely anyone is talking about it. My theory is - game is below average at best and can be barely called an art piece in gaming industry. (based on what I know about the game and on one youtube playthrough)

Popularity matters cause it is a good metric to measure sales. If game is good and sells well - people will talk. People are barely talking about this game. Sales are probably very low. But also, what would sales be if it wouldn’t be banned of steam? I bet they would barely exist.

Ah yes, yes. The game from “one of the best indie game developers” that, as of 2025.12.04 (2 days since release), has <4 Metacritic user reviews (no score) and stands at 77 score with only 7 reviews by game critics. Devs get tons of free clout by being removed, but somehow their game is still unpopular. Wonder why.

I am not looking for a purpose. All I care if I or people close to me are having a good life. It is not always good or perfect. But overall, I am happy at where I am but I also have space to grow to.

What exactly is good about either of them.

Say, a professional lawyer is making a reaction video to some other video depicting something that breaks the law and gives comments form law standpoint - that is fine. But might as well count as a commentary channel rather than a reaction channel. Also, these are fucking rare!

And then we got trillions of channels that just watch movie/game trailers, funny tiktok/reddit/insta/9gag videos, or worse - movies and just occasionally react in an exaggerated tone to them or dont react at all - that is content cancer prime.

4W rpi5 versus 7W n100 on idle is not a big of a difference. I admit that rpi5 would be around half as cheaper to run but even with really high electricity price, difference is minuscule. Your average wifi router would utilize around the same amount of energy as N100 minipc.

Most of new consumer-grade devices are USB-C while non-consumer-grade ones would utilize other standards. But I haven’t seen a proprietary ones in a while here. The one I have for my miniPC is proprietary, but I am skilled enough to either fix it or change it for something else when it’s breaks.

I am all up for USB-C for personal/home electronics. I have modified some of my devices to utilize USB-C and am incredibly happy with results. But I also can see why say audio/video equipment would never adapt fully to USB-C. I guess industrial equipment does benefit from much sturdier connectors than USB-C and there are plenty of standards.

Not sure if this counts as SBC, but maybe you should try to find a used GMKtec G5. It is tiny and these usually have N97 and 12gb of DDR5. New one goes for 139 where I am at, so maybe it is fair to try to find used one for cheaper.

Alternatives: minis with N5059, N95, N100, N150 are all priced similarly.

Reaction videos - prime example of slop. WHO DAFUQ WATCHES THESE? Like, am I going crazy by not getting this? Why would I watch some person just sit there and react to shit, often exaggerating their reaction to get attention of a watcher, that brings literally 0 fucking worth to the original content?

Prank videos - only are second to reaction videos. 99% of the time are either fake or they do some questionable stuff to expectorating bystanders.

Rocking Mint on HTPC and Bazzite on gaming miniPC. Didn’t had problesm with bluetooth/wifi/printer on both. Was quite impressed that Mint just put an icon in tray with my printer that I just connected to the home network while Win11 had made me go to settings.
