I think both of you are right but also wrong. It’s called “whatever you want” and there is no universal name for the practice. If you’re not using your PC for media, it certainly isn’t an HTPC.

A retiree couple that scrounged up enough to have ~$50k yearly budget for the remainder of their days falls into your definition of wealthy, and I would argue that doesn’t line up. They are not, in fact, wealthy. The ‘line’ is far less clear than that.

Of course, but as we know there is no universal agreements for either. The expectations are ill placed.

they should be supporting those projects
As long as the end user is abiding by the licensing terms it shouldn’t be an expectation that any additional support is coming from anywhere. This is the nature of foss. The contributors should know this.

The simplest solution, and would save me 30 seconds. I’d save even more if it was in person.

Persona has a unique look for sure. Some AAAs do look neat, but it is very, very, rare. On the whole they don’t come close to the indie scene.

I disagree so much. I never want another AA device.

Annnd thread closed.

The indie scene is where you’ll find the most creative takes. There are some truly stunning styles that mainstream games would probably never try.

So first off, reddit did/does have lots of great content, communities, and engagement. I don’t think it’s fair to make the blanket comparison.
Second, we should probably address it on a case by case basis. This one is benign.

Are you really against engagement though? Lemmy could benefit from it.
You need no validation to do what you want. If you think you should blog, do it!

Expecting every post to come with a little handholding tutorial isn’t reasonable either. For the surgeon example it doesn’t take a surgeon to give the warning, but that same non-surgeon isn’t necessarily in a position to guide anyone either.

They removed my favorite sandwich, the grilled chicken, from the menu. It had the best macros out of all fast food chains too :'(
Just doing my part 🫡.
