Huh that’s neat!
It makes sense that it is the touch sensing the heat, but it’s not like a physical touch against an object so that’s the only reason I thought it could be treated differently for the purpose of this shower thought.

Corporate Dems care enough that you’re not starving, but not enough so that you’re not living out of your car or relying on the government for some of your needs. Many of the Corporate Dems probably do care to an extent, but green is what matters most to many so if you have a pulse it’s okay!

Really it’s corporate Democrats trying to court corporate donors. It has close to nothing to do with this being the policy to win over voters. Imo, it’s why the corporate Dems need to be primaried out by progressives.
A corporate Dem is still a marginally better than having Republicans in office, only because they’re focused on personal greed rather than personally causing the pain.

The image board style works well for forums, ala 4chan, but the issue with some of those is mainly the lack of any moderation. I feel like there could be a Fediverse version of image board forums that work really well.
Namely, they should not have anonymous posting/commenting and should have active moderation.
Imo, image boards were pretty peak for memes and generating original content, when there was any semblance of moderation.

I think your list looks solid! The only questions I have are about listing coffee and tea on the avoid list? There are some studies that show that coffee at least helps with longevity. Tea is not as conclusive as far as I’m seeing, but if the caffeine is part of what’s beneficial from coffee then it would make sense that tea also brings health benefits.
On another note, frozen vegetables can sometimes be better for you than fresh veggies since they are frozen immediately and stay more nutritious for longer because of it. You’re spot on about local and in-season vegetables being some of your best bet, especially if you care about other things like the climate.
Let your memes be dreams <3
This is my type of shitpost to end the night on.

Fast food likely would have been fine… if wages increased as much as the prices did.
The fact that the minimum wage doesn’t increase every year, yet prices do, meant that this was always going to be a recipe for disaster.

I think it could be worth doing a class on the text of the Quran at some point. I’m aware of some small things such as a deeper focus on the rituals of prayer and worship, but I’m not aware of the specifics of the text.
They really should be, those writings attributed to Paul really go off base from what Jesus was teaching.

Adam was made XY sex. Adam then chose to be male. Sorry for the confusion there.

And it’s been woke the whole time! Lol

That makes a lot of sense; I’m curious now what are some of the big differences between the Orthodox and Catholic versions of the Bible. I agree that the Bible can be viewed as a living document. Personally I believe more books could have been added on over the past 2,000 years.
That makes sense as well. Take the King James Version for example which removed references of criticism about the monarchy and papal authority. Although surprisingly was still centered on presenting the Bible without a religious or political lean one way or another.

Even the Bible has been slightly altered by man though. For instance, a few of the books written in Paul’s name we know now were actually written by some of people under him from within the early church.
So the sections written about women not holding authority within the church may have been put in there to centralize power and make the church have a patriarchal structure.
There’s also the different translations of the Bible which can affect the meaning for some of the text. For instance the Adam and Eve story. Adam means earth in Hebrew, it was not a name. So the person we know as Adam, was created male and then personally chose to identify as male, rather than being given his gender by God. The same for Eve as well being the first woman, although IIRC Eve was her name. Still she chose to identity as the first woman.
I think equitable help makes sense as a parent, also fostering a mindset with your kids to not take much more than what’s needed. Post-18 I plan to help pay towards their car insurance, phone bill, and living expenses as long as they are at home. Once they move out, I’ll still help with what I can until they tell me otherwise.
I’m not optimistic I’ll be able to financially provide as much help as I would want to give. Also I’m not optimistic that a young person will be able to afford their own home easily 20+ years from now. Unless there’s more public housing or a sudden increase in the amount of houses being built, I expect real estate to keep going up but wages to stagnant, without intervention at least.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they do, more people might call them out if they over promise and don’t deliver when they have the votes to though.
If tariffs keep hitting people for another 3+ years, I feel that people are going to start demanding progressive legislation. These rich corporate types can skirt by when the average person is not actively in debt, but when people aren’t able to afford to own a home, start a family, retire, or even just buy a car then shit is hitting the fan.

I’ll take it. This means that the progressive side of the party is starting to cause enough ripples to sway even the most pro-corporate side. It could mean that the corporate Dems are willing to listen more to their voters rather than the corporate donors as well.
I guess it depends on how you define ghosting and the expectations you want to set with some people. For instance, I recently didn’t notice someone sent me a message a few weeks prior, so when I noticed it I responded right away.
If it’s family I doubt there’s a big expectation to always reply over text. If it’s close friends, sometimes people are just not in the right space to give a good reply so they might not have an answer. If it’s someone you barely know, I think it can be a bit hurtful to building a bond with them.
I regularly have ghosted people for weeks or months though as I’ve gotten older, but that’s more because I’m overwhelmed more. Idk if people want to talk I’m always open for a call, but texting isn’t my focus these days.
I wouldn’t say they’re necessarily tiny but they are a minority by far. 94/213 of the Democrats in the House are part of the progressive caucus for instance, which is 94/435 total seats in the House. Having 1/100 of the seats in the Senate by comparison.
Imo they just do what they can get away with. Which will continue for the foreseeable next three years at minimum.
For progressive change, it really needs to happen at the state level within Blue states. We need those programs passed at the state level and then we can sell how successful they are to the other states.
So you got your taste, touch, smell, sight, hearing, and thermoception? Assuming we’re treating it differently from touch.
