I think you have to clean it more. When water sits in the head, all those wet surfaces start growing mold and bacteria and stuff. When you Turn it on, some of the build up gets flushed out. So 1x a day means 24 hours of build up between flushings and minimal accumulation. 1x a week means 7 days worth of accumulation each time

Huh, I would have never thought to ask about most mass produced shoes. I guess my redwing boots are fairly mass produced, and ive gotten those resolved, but even my merril boots I dont think of as being repairable.
I used to work as a bike mechanic in my teens, and it was pretty standard for shops to have a ‘no department store’ policy for repairs. We’d chance a tube, but trying true a wheel, or properly set breaks and gear on those soft metal, low presicision components just wasnt worth it.

Thats the thing, our cops tend to be pretty solid about community oriented stuff. We’re also a wealthy vacation town (think like the hamptons) which tends to help.
If i lived in a community where that was not the case, I would have tried dealt with this through other means. Like I said, the moment I moved this outside, a beat cop happened by and immediately recognized a situation and moved to help, not threaten with violence or arrest.
The issue here was the dispatcher, who, to be fair, was a gal who I went to school with, and was… not the best critical thinker.

I used to have a kitchen sink faucet with the mixing handle on the side, that i installed after the 2 tap mixers.
So the 2 taps controlled hot and cold, which fed into the faucets cold line, and the hot line was capped off, making the handle only control flow, and temp was the 2 knobs. (I did this out of laziness because I didnt want to unsolder and resolder in new fittings)
We were able to stop him. I convinced him to step outside for a cigarette with me, while we continued talking. He was still talking pretty manicaly, which attracted the attention of a cop on foot, who helped me talk him down until ems arrived.
Most ridiculous call ive made was an attempted suicide.
A guy had set up in a local coffee shop, and was going to drink a quart of latex paint, which he planned to wash down with a pint of paint thinner, to prove the paint was nontoxic.
So I called and asked them to send police and ems down to help help stop a suicide. The dispatcher said she wasnt sure suicide was against the law. I told her that it was, it still counted as murder in our jurisdiction. She remained dubious and also wasn’t sure that drinking paint would be lethal. I pointed out drinking a pint of paint thinner definitely was.
Finally I changed tack; i said that when this guy went into convulsions, he was sure to make a mess of the floor of the buisness he was in, between the spilled and the vomited paint, and that most assuredly violated destruction of private property laws.
Her entire demeanor changed. She responded brightly with 'oh yeah, you should have led with that, ill have officers and emts at your location within 10 minutes!
