That we should renationalise all public services here in the UK. I genuinely believe that. I’m essentially a left of centre capitalist, but I believe private companies using shared national infrastructure for shareholder profit under the lie of ‘competition’ is bullshit.
I like the idea that we’re interconnected ‘nodes’ collectively experiencing life from our own viewpoint, but part of a larger consciousness. But fucks knows.

I was thinking if the moon was somehow ‘resting’ on the earth’s surface. If you head West, to around the Boston area, it would be eventually be obscured by the curvature of the earth.
Never tried it in my life. Pretty sure you can get it here in the UK, but most of those style drinks (monster etc) look so artificial that my own innate cowardice keeps me away.
That said, I barely drink soda since the sugar tax, as all the soft drinks now have sweeteners that I taste as bitter - even my national drink (Irn-Bru) has been ruined.

I think so. Humour was needed growing up in a Scottish school. I approach most things with a sort of ‘Gallows Humour’. A kind of pleasantly self-soothing mindset that accepts that we’re all pretty much fucked, so we might as well have a laugh while we’re at it.
Wholesome, traditional. Just casually rolling like the guy Dick Jones had killed in RoboCop.

The only topic I’ve struggled with is the trans stuff. It goes without saying that there’s a depressing level of intolerance and hate out there, invariably ramped up by the media (distraction?), but also so much treading on eggshells, obfuscation and, frankly, attention given to a subject that the vast majority of folk may privately find a little confusing, but ultimately don’t have any great interest in.

That’s interesting - I wasn’t aware of how fundamentally we’ve moved on in the last 10 years. Presumably you went to uni, so that’s 4 years, so you’ll have the theory I guess? I did my Degree in ‘computing’ in 2003. Did some Java and Web design using Dreamweaver and a whole module on Lotus Notes. Yeah, not super useful!
Yikes. I’ve moved from IT tech support to MGMT. I don’t really write with a pen, and largely rely on emails/teams. I think if we went back any further than the late 80s I’d be totally screwed.
In a trashy book from the 50s called Hollywood Babylon, Kenneth Anger includes a short section about the then Nancy Davis during her early acting days at MGM.
He claims she had a reputation for being very friendly with studio executives, and that she was “popular” among them. Anger frames it as part of the Hollywood casting-couch culture of the era.
Probably BS, but who knows.
But sleep is amazing. To me it’s a partially interactive movie where you disassociate and live out different lives with other characters who are often an amalgamation of different folk you know, in weird semi-familiar settings both past and present. It’s wild.

Honestly nothing. The more I read and listen about any topic that can be debated the more unsure I am of my stance. I’m pretty sure that billionaires simply shouldn’t be allowed to hoard so much money, but I’d probably fold under a multi-layered, informed rebuttal - it’s more a gut feeling that i’d likely fail to articulate.
I love the cautious, super-sensitive pre-amble before the gently framed question! It’s almost as if this whole topic is an absolute tinder-box doused in aviation fuel.
I find it a little comical that even folk that are clearly trying to be as on-board as they can, to the extent that nothing they say could be remotely seen as critical of trans people, all must do their tippy-toe dance before they get to the point.
End of the day, we’re on an anonymous platform that has a higher percentage of trans folk than most. If we could get to a place where honest and respectful questions could be asked without having to tread in eggshells then that, to me, would be progress.

I had kids a bit older, so I guess some of my parenting is old school. I like to think I’m more open with feelings than my dad, and my children mean everything to me. However, I cannot abide other parents who let their kids dominate and interrupt adult conversations. Sometimes it’s necessary, like if an infant has hurt themselves or some thing, but otherwise a child should not interrupt an adult who’s talking and, if they do, the parent should tell them to hold on a minute while the adults talk.
