The thing that did it for me was several years ago when Russia disconnected the whole country from the Internet for a day and Reddit instantly transformed. Nearly all of the trolls in political threads disappeared, and discussions became nicer and way more the left-leaning.

And you’re right, now that conservatives are being undeniably impacted, it seems that their support of Trump might be faltering.
Slightly more boomers voted conservative in the last few elections than voted liberal. Slightly more of the younger generations voted liberal. The difference isn’t that stark. If you attended any of the no kings protests, you saw that the overwhelming majority were older folks. This kind of age prejudice isn’t helping anything.

This comes off like a person who has no empathy, or who assumes everyone else thinks like they do. When I was in college, I tutored math to middle school kids, and I can say with certainty that some people’s brains take to it more naturally than others. You can be very smart and still struggle with math.
And putting that aside, “enjoyment” is inherently subjective. It’s like saying most people would enjoy liver and onions if they had it cooked right. No, some people will and some people won’t. It’s okay - people are a diverse lot and it’s fine if some people don’t like what you like.
No keys to anyone else’s place. Car key is a little odd: the hotel has mandatory valet parking, so I don’t have the key when I leave the room, or if I go for a walk. If I drive someplace, the valet hands me the key when they bring the car, so I do have one, but it’s not something I make sure I have when I leave.
It’s funny, for years my list was keys, wallet, and phone, and of those it’s the keys that go back the furthest. I had a key to my parents house when I was a young teen, and I’ve always carried keys with me since (I’m in my 60s now). I sold my house a couple months ago, and I’ve been living in a hotel until I close on a condo, and it feels so strange not to own any keys now, just the key card for the hotel.
I watched this video of Jack Antonoff showing how he created one of his songs - I think it was “I want to get better” - and it was fascinating. I copied the link so I could show my wife when I got home, but when I went to use it I got a 404. Searched like crazy and was never able to find it.
I’m with you! It was surreal. I found myself thinking, “I’m glad my friend was raised in a repressive christian household.” So strange.
A bunch of years ago, a buddy of mine was asking me how I went from devout catholic to atheist. At one point in the story, I said I realized that my beliefs in right and wrong, and how we should treat each other, didn’t depend on the existence of god - that I would live my life the same way if you could prove there was or wasn’t a god. He seemed surprised, so I asked what he’d do differently if it was proven that god didn’t exist. He thought for a minute, then said “Well, I might kill someone.” I truly didn’t know how to process that, especially since the guy was both very kind and gigantic/ripped.
You know, I’ve seen houndstooth, but it’s always been really small. This is the first time I saw it large like this.
