That’s a common mistake. For the future: the main difference between a foot rest and a cat bed ist that the foot rest is not inside your house while everything inside is actually a cat bed.

i know a cat that would just start purring and maybe lick your foot if you used it as a footrest (gently)
Buy a cat bed if you want a foot rest. You know they won’t use the thing made for them.
