My wife had a zflip where the hinges got stuck and snapped, and they replacement they sent her had the flex cable inside malfunction to the point where it felt like the phone was going to melt. On a more charitable reading I can see that meaning, and I probably came off with a tone I didn’t mean over text. Did you mean to respond to somone else? I’ve been trying to go out of my way to say this isn’t a rebuttal to the argument. No one’s rhetoric is perfect, and even if someone’s advice doesn’t resonate with you there might be a kernel of something you can use to improve it in other ways.

I wasn’t even denouncing the core of your argument, it was purely the characterization you made of them. Everyone views their own opinions as the right ones, so “spend[ing] your effort screaming at the ones who want to dismantle the orphan crushing machine”(your exact words) is about as fair of a characterization as “beg the accellerationists to help reduce the amount of murder happening in general” for instance. I’m not saying that either one is the truth. I’m not saying you are wrong or adding my own view on the issue itself. I’m saying that I think you could make it more convincing by leaving that characterization out.

It’s a little wild to tell someone they should spend this energy doing something about it instead of writing when you wrote more than them just to say it. It rings pretty hollow. Not saying this to tell you you’re right or wrong, just some constructive criticism. Stick to the substantial arguments if you really want to change minds.

I’ve never met a cyclist who was on the road for any reason other than “it’s literally against the law to ride on the sidewalk”, assuming there even is a path for pedestrians to begin with. The people that design our infrastructure in the US are lobbied heavily by the car industry and incentivised to favor them while placating the poors on bikes by painting some shitty lines by the curb and calling it a day. Proper bike infrastructure doesn’t have the issues you mentioned.

What’s the context for that?

I find checking voicemail so tedious and inconvenient as someone worth audio processing issues and the quality is usually so bad I have to listen to it several times and still can’t 100% understand. Voicemail transcription helps but I ain’t paying a subscription for that shit when that person can just send a text.
