Imagine wasting tax payer money to work out why we keep losing Eurovision. Have they got nothing better to investigate?
All Western “democracies” are following the same trajectory. The psychopathic criminals in charge focus on amplifying the “circus” while they steal all the “bread” for themselves, until capitalism decays into absolute fascism and totalitarianism. Once the labor and military are automated, the bread part no longer matters, and concepts like freedom and democracy — whatever “the people” think or believe — are no longer relevant or consequential.
Your words remind me the maga rhetorics.
So… What’s your better suggestion for capitalism?
I’ve been a Look Mum No Computer fan for a while but I’ve completely ignored this year’s Eurovision to boycott. Was the song or performance actually bad? Or is this just a continuation of “nul points UK LOL” we’ve been seeing for a while?
Look Mum No Computer’s song was great, maybe not first place material, but definitely not last place either, although I’m definitely biased here, I don’t understand why it scored so abysmally. Eurovision is just weird sometimes, a song that wins one year could’ve been a last place in another year, preferences change and are hard to predict, also politics plays a role.
I don’t understand why it scored so abysmally
politics plays a role
The truth was out there, all along.
Sweden also did poorly with a song I thought was alright. I think it deserved better.
And they won the previous year with a horrible pone.
Just because Abba’s anniversary was coming up.
I think that song was also alright, but of the two that performer won with, it’s the weaker one for sure. Can’t say if it was a worthy winner because I haven’t got a clue about what other songs competed that year.
None of it matters. The UK can come last. That’s also ok. No need to be a sore loser. Get over competition. No need to be all competitive. Politicians should be more collaborative than competitive. Who votes for these politicians? Thats the real question.
How about they instead just stop arresting people for protesting against a fucking genocide?
Why does anyone actually care about Eurovision in 2026? Or at any time in history, for that matter.
At first I was boycotting it but then I just realised I didn’t even miss it
It’s almost like Britain voted to do something that pissed Europe off….
Anything specific? They were 2nd in 2022, so it has to be something since then and not Brexit, I doubt it’s something related to Israel as they scored suspiciously high the last few years.
Eurovision voting isn’t exactly cutting edge politics. All of the Scandinavian countries voting for each other, or Cyprus and Greece always giving each other points. I can see the UK getting minimal points forever, whatever the song.
As I said they were 2nd in 2022, then dropped to 25th (second to last) in 2023, and then up to 18th and 19th and now last place. They didn’t get any televotes since 2024. To be honest they didn’t do great in the past in general. Last time they won was 1997 since then they were four times in the top ten and six times they came last. The rest of the time since then they were mostly in the lower half or lower third, sometimes second to last. Honestly coming last this year is pretty on brand for the UK in Eurovision.
It really isn’t as political as people think, Israel situation not withstanding) As someone who is forced to watch the thing every year and listen to all the songs for months beforehand (when the other half is in charge of the music) we just keep sending shit acts.
It comes down to: good song, performed well by someone who actually puts effort into promoting it across Europe.
Sam Ryder simply had a brilliant song and he’s an incredible performer and he spent months and months appearing on TV and radio in places like Moldova and Poland and Belgium.
All our other acts either have a song that would never do well (look mum no computer), they perform it badly and they don’t put the work in.
Mostly the issue we have is any legitimate artist in the UK views it (somewhat rightly) as a terrible thing for their credibility so they don’t want to do it. You’re then left with unknowns, has beens and niche artists and the only hope is you somehow strike lightning in a bottle which is incredibly rare.
Has the MP questioning it (I couldnt see the name at a skim read of the article) considered that the BBC don’t WANT the UK to win it ? It would cost them money to host it that they don’t wish to allocate. That way they can spend more money on political shows featuring Reform and reality shows featuring girls from Essex with big boobs and no brains.
(I don’t pay for a TV licence any more for this reason anyway)
Dame Caroline Julia Dinenage MP DBE Conservative
Ta.
So not even an MP. One of the geriatrics in the Lords being a waste of oxygen as usual. My bad she is an MP but still a waste of space
You can send a lot if decent entries that have low chances to win but get respectable scores though. It takes effort and dedication to stick as much to the bottom of the barrel as most recent UK entries
Yeah, that’s true, but that would require the BBC exec in charge putting some effort in to make sure it’s an “okay ish but not great” entry, otherwise they risk accidentally winning it. Much easier to pick the worst act and slope off to the pub.
I didn’t see the other contestants but I’m not really surprised. I’ve seen Look mum no computer plugging this song for months and always thought it was pretty terrible.
I loved it, so apparently in matters of taste, there can be no disputes.
