The ECB makes a survey on which design should the new banknotes have. You can participate here: https://surveys.ecb.europa.eu/10b/banknotes/share/ . The designs include birds and buildings or famous persons and culture.
My big issue is all the ugly modernist buildings.
Shoutout to this amazing video: “How did the world get so ugly?”
My issue with some of the bird designs is that they decided to go for buildings for the other side. Could we have a mixture of the bird and the ones that have people in a space, instead of just the building?
Otherwise, some of those are really, really pretty :D
Those bird designs really do appeal
I really like the ones with birds on. Also, vertical money yes please
Those bird designs really don’t appeal.
The second ones actually look really beautiful!
There’s the first bird ones which do look boring, but the second one waow or the third or fourth birb (reminds me of norwegian bills).
the ones after the second birb ones are the coolest tho!
I really like Jan Robert Dünnweller’s designs, or Isabelle Daëron’s. Joost Grootens’ is nice but it feels a bit boring.
I’m partial to the Tietäväinen design, myself. The Daëron one is nice, too. The Vardopoulou one also feels properly money-like.
I consider the Dünnweiler design a complete atrocity, the worst one by far. And most of the “people” designs aren’t good.
What I dislike about the “bird” designs is the backside. Few people have any idea what most of those buildings are and they feel far less European to me than an abstract representation of a historical architectural style.
Yeah, I’m not a fan of the EU buildings either. They’re too modern for my taste.
The representation of different architectural eras is amazing and it is sad that they’d be dropping it.
I’m personally not a fan of picking people, as there’s only so many bills and much more countries. It will inevitably become partial.
