I just found out about his new distro, and I haven’t seen anyone else mention it, so here it is.
Here’s Erik Dubois Ko-Fi, where he did the annoucement of the new website. https://ko-fi.com/erikdubois
Kiro ships with Claude pre-installed and ready to wire up — AI assistance built into the distro, not a side-quest. Same Anthropic model that built the install.
Not for me
arco was shut down last year because…
The reasoning behind this move, as shared by Erik, is his advancing age and him realizing that he doesn’t have the same level of mental focus or stamina he used to have before. He has found himself making small mistakes, the kind that can negatively affect a major undertaking like this.

yeaaaaaa… no thank you.
Yeah it’s weird that he said he’s too old and making too many mistakes to maintain a Linux distro, only to use LLMs to then maintain another Linux distro.
If he doesn’t trust himself with a task, why trust him to oversee an LLM doing the same task?
Honestly, don’t use hobby distros unless it’s just for testing purposes. They will fail you in the end, always.
That being said, if you want to check out another hobby distro, PikaOS is pretty fucking cool: https://wiki.pika-os.com/AI pre-installed 🤮
No telemetry, no analytics
Kiro doesn’t phone home. No usage stats, no crash reports, no opt-in dialogs hidden in defaults. Your install is yours.
The fact that this needs to be said for a Linux distro.
Ubuntu on the meantime
I don’t know what is ArcoLinux neither ErikDubois.
I’m assuming the distro is free so I can use Claude for free unlimited right? It’d really a shame if my distro comes with some built in thing that I need to pay to keep using.
